10 Tell-Tale Signs You Miss The University Of Kentucky
Coach Cal

You’re about a third of the way through summer, yet you feel like you’ve been away from school for a year now. Dorm life seems to be nothing more than a faint memory.

As much as you hate to admit it, there’s something about that preheated, stale, and unrecognizable cafeteria food that you miss. And you definitely miss paying for your meals in meal swipes and midnight snacks in flex. Wasn’t it nice when all your best friends were within walking distance? You may not miss solving derivatives or writing about Plato’s theory of justice, but man, do you miss college.

Thank god it wasn’t a goodbye, just a “see ya later”.

Here are the 10 tell-tale signs you miss the University of Kentucky":

1. You have recurring nightmares that you’re being chased down the hallways of Whitehall.

When I envision the gates of hell, I like to envision the outdoor stairs that lead you to the doors of the building. Who needs a morning coffee when you’ve got a never ending flight of stairs! Miss that place.

2. When you get a craving for Chick fil A, Panda Express, or Starbucks.

And then you remember that they aren’t within walking distance and you have to spend your hard-earned money on their products. We’re not ready for real life yet.

3. When watching the NBA playoffs, it makes you that much more excited for college basketball season.

Bring on the lottery.

4. It may be sick and a bit twisted, but there’s something that you miss about spending endless hours in Willy T. Friends.

Good conversation, study snacks- with a side of academics. Not to mention it’s debatably the most beautiful building on campus.

5. When you look at "find my friends" and realize your friends are scattered throughout the entire United States.

Instead of being within a five mile radius. Distance may make the heart grow fonder, but we’re counting down the days until everyone’s brought back to Lexington.

6. Local Taco. The tacos. The quesadillas. The queso. The guac.

The withdrawals are real and hitting hard. Is your mouth watering yet?

7. The sighting of a horse, whether on television or in person, has you more than ready for Keeneland season.

Like football or basketball season, this is one of the most highly anticipated seasons at UK. Although some of us may not even go into the track, we’re with the horses in spirit. We’ll take a hot dog too please.

8. While driving in your hometown or wherever you may be this summer, you always compare your traffic to Lexington traffic.

“It could be worse, I could be stuck in Nicholasville Rd traffic at rush hour."

9. All of your friends’ Snapchat stories went from fraternity basements or bars to their summer jobs.

Such a drastic turn that took, from screaming sorority girls to a babysitting outing at the zoo. As much as you hate to admit it, you miss those Thirsty Thursday snaps.

10. You can’t help but get overly excited over the thought of returning to campus in August.

University of Kentucky, you have our hearts.

See you in August baby.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
