Lent is a time where all of us Catholics come together and give up something that we love for 40 days to honor and thank Jesus for dying for our sins. However, though Jesus dying was the absolute ultimate struggle for him, there are also some struggles that come along with Lent for us as well. (I really hope I don't go to hell for writing this article. Sorry Jesus).
1. Your ashes on Ash Wednesday being way too dark.
Thanks Father, my forehead is now going to be stained for all eternity.
2. All the non-Catholics giving you weird looks because you have been marked.
We're not a cult, I swear.
3. Trying to figure out what to give up for the next 40 days.
Can I give up exams?
4. But also not being able to give up something you love too much because you have a fear you might die.
Even though Jesus died for our sins, I can't give up pizza for 40 days. I'm not a miracle worker.
5. Having to eat salad or fish on Fridays.
Being a vegetarian once a week is hard.
6. When you accidentally eat meat on Friday.
Sorry, honest mistake.
7. When you see all of your friends eating or doing the thing you gave up.
I don't need it, I don't need it.
8. Slipping up and doing it anyways.
I swear I'm not a bad person.
9. 40 days feeling like 40 years.
It's like it never ends.
10. Feeling like a bad Catholic at the end, but knowing that God forgives you and your lack of self-control.
Thanks boys, for being the real MVP.
