Well since move in day was just a few days ago, I thought I would share 10 struggles most students have on the move in day!

1.Getting all your stuff into the car

It might not look like you have a lot when it is all in a pile in your house. But in reality, it is a lot of stuff to be moving. There is a smart way to pack the car but no one really thinks about the smart way to do it. We are just all thinking about how this is all going to fit in the car.

2. Taking your stuff from the car to your room

At my school, they have bins and each person gets one on move in day. The part that is the worst is making multiple trips. So usually the move in team person that is helping you and you go up to your room while your parents stay and watch the rest of your stuff. By the time everything is in your room your room is a mess and makes it very stressful to unpack.

3. Matching with your roommates

Your roommate might text you over the summer asking you what color scheme should we do the room. You don’t have to match with your roommates if you don’t want to. My first year my roommate and I did not match our stuff. This year by chance, we didn’t even know we had the same color stuff so it happened by accident.

4. Making everything work

You're probably having so many thoughts going through your head while having your stuff in the car or even the car to bring it up to your room. All your going to be worrying about is things breaking. You don’t know what going to happen. Just have a positive attitude and whatever happens, it will be okay.

5. Hating or loving your new home

Being in your new room for the first time is always something that is going to make your nervous because you know it going to be the best time or worst time of your life.

6. Meeting your R.A.

You can have a really great R.A. and get along so well and she/he can be your go to person when you need something. But it can be completely horrible and your R.A. won’t do anything to help you.

7. Random Roommates

It is one of the scariest things that is going to happen in your life during college. Having a random roommate usually never works out. So, if you have a random good luck and hope maybe things work out for you.

8. Be prepared to always be spending money

Going to college can cost you a lot of money. No just tuition fees and other due that get added to your account. But you need to buy everything for your dorm as well. Between bedding, a mattress topper (it is a must) and so many other things you will be in college debt before it even starts.

9. The embarrassing parent

Most parents want to be so involved during move in day. They are going to try to talk to the people helping to move in and would want to make everything perfect in your room before they leave. But as much as you can’t wait for them to leave, you know you’re going to miss them.

10. The last goodbye

Yes, the final goodbye is horrible (if you are a freshman) but it is something you have to do. It is your one moment of weakness. Even if you’re not crying on the outside, you are having a total break down on the inside. Trust me it’Hs okay.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
