10 Steps To Recover From Spring Break

Sadly, spring break is over, and it’s time to jump back into reality. Your one-week preview of summer vacation has come to a close. But on the bright side, the next break is only about a month away. In the meantime, here are some tips on how to recover from Spring Break.

1. Hit the gym.

I’m sure the last thing you were concerned about over break is getting to the gym because your "spring break bod" was all ready to go. However, summer is only a month away and you need to turn your spring body into a summer body. Also, exercise will make you feel refreshed and more motivated to continue on with other Spring Break recovery tasks.

2. Go grocery shopping.

If you’ve been gone for a week, chances are that everything in your refrigerator has gone bad. Make sure to check expiration dates because the last thing you want to do is pour chunky milk into your cereal. Hit up your grocery store of choice and replenish all of the food that has seen better days.

3. Eat healthy.

When you're at the grocery store, you should try and purchase healthy food. A bag of potato chips here and there won’t hurt, but try and keep it primarily healthy. If you’re anything like me, you’ve eaten nothing but junk food for a week straight, and your body deserves a break. Summer fruits and veggies are coming into season, so don’t be afraid to pick up a few extra when at the grocery store.

4. Stay organized.

It is more likely than not that your planner has been doing nothing but collecting dust for the past week. Check your planner and make sure you know what your obligations are for the week because you don’t want to miss an important event because you were daydreaming about your Spring Break trip.

5. Catch up on homework.

I take it that very few people were lounging around on the beach doing their homework for the week, so make a day out of catching up on homework. Put all of your procrastination habits aside and kick your homework’s butt. You had so much fun for a week, so now it’s time to put in work.

6. Do your laundry.

You now have a week’s worth of swimsuits and shorts to wash. Make sure to put laundry at the top of your priority list because it is nearly impossible to live out of a suitcase. Plus, an unpacked suitcase will cause you to just daydream about your trip instead of getting things done. Throw all of your clothes in the washer so you can ensure they are clean for your next adventure.

7. Go back to work.

Your trip probably took a good chunk out of your bank account, so it’s time to make money again. I know going back to your job doesn’t seem like the ideal thing to be doing, but trust me, it will pay off. Think of it this way: the sooner you get back to work, the sooner you can start saving money for a trip over summer break.

8. Reply to your emails.

Many of us were without wifi during our break, so many important emails may have gone unnoticed. Give yourself at least an hour to sit down and reply to all of your emails. I’m sure there’s something in there that’s super important that got brushed aside. It could be something as simple as a Michael’s coupon, or something as nerve-wracking as an email from your professor.

9. Post your final photos.

Again, since you finally have wifi, post all of your photos from your trip. I know the urge to post 17 pictures in one sitting is there, but pick your favorites and go with those. You should be just as excited to see other people’s pics as you are to post yours, so have a good time scrolling through your feed and reliving your trip one last time.

10. Don't forget all the good times you had.

Even though you have to get back on the grind, don’t forget all of the memories you made over the past week. Spring Break makes life-long memories, and just because it’s over doesn’t mean it needs to be forgotten.

I hope these tips can help you at least somewhat recover from your Spring Break. If you really are having trouble and none of these tips helped, just start a countdown to Spring Break 2017.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
