10 Songs To Listen To This Summer

Summer means days at the beach, evenings by the bonfire and afternoons lounging about. There are some essentials that are needed for a good day and that includes good people, good food and good music. The soundtrack of the summer is a key to any event. Here are my picks for best sounds for a summer of fun.

1. "Drunk On Your Love" - Brett Eldredge

This country song has catchy lyrics and a fun rhythm. An acoustic guitar strumming along to a danceable beat make this a perfect song to sway to under a shady tree, or listen to on a boat floating on the lake. The vibe of the country music perfectly fits the mood of summer, and this song is perfect for any summer event.

2. "3005" - Childish Gambino

Sharing a similar theme of love and loyalty, the message of this song adds to its overall fit for summer. This song's beat, along with Childish Gambino's voice crooning a chorus and spitting rhymes in the verse combine for one fantastic tune. "3005" is catchy and moody, and the breakdown makes this song great for any night activity.

3. "All Night" - Beyoncé

Queen Bey's latest album "Lemonade" is full of hits, and every song is great for a different reason. "All Night" is a perfect blend of Bey's vocals, a smooth R&B jam, and a great chorus of trumpets. The closing song on her tumultuous album, "All Night" preaches love and forgiveness and is another chill song to add to your summer playlist. Play this one during a bonfire or on a long car ride to set the mood and unwind.

4. "American Country Love Song" - Jake Owen

The title says it all, and Jake Owen sure knows what he's doing. This song perfectly encompasses what summer feels like. "American Country Love Song" is a perfect song to sing along to when you're at the beach or at the bonfire. You can never go wrong with a good country song.

5. "New Romantics" - Taylor Swift

This song may have come out a couple of years ago, but it is still a jam. T Swift knows how to write a song, whether it be a sad one or a fun one. "New Romantics" is another great song to dance around to with your best friends. It has a fun vibe and the lyrics are catchy and relatable as heck. Way to go, Taylor.

6. "I Remember" - AlunaGeorge

Alunageorge knows what makes a good song. Lead singer Aluna Francis' unique voice combines with George Reid's synth beats to make a cool song that is perfect for a late night. The dreamy tones of Francis' voice make this song like a lullaby, and the beats jolt the listener awake for a song that is far from what plays on the radio.

7. "No Problem" - Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz

Chance's new album is full of bangers, and this one takes the cake. An assortment of great rappers combine for "No Problem." This is the perfect song to get hype to, or drive with your windows down to. Chance leads listeners in a exuberant chant, and the verses break down into clever rhymes and funny samples.

8. "Can't Stop the Feeling" - Justin Timberlake

What is summer without a Justin Timberlake song? J Timbs always knows what the people want to hear. This song is perfect for dancing, and the lyrics are so catchy you'll have 'em stuck in your head all day. Having the song stuck in your head is no bad thing, because it'll keep you in a good mood. It truly is impossible to fight the good feeling this song gives you.

9. "This Is What You Came For" - Calvin Harris, Rihanna

No one knows a song of the summer like Calvin Harris. Combining Rihanna's flawless vocals with a cool EDM beat, this song is another perfect party pump-up song. The excitement in the song is clear and the build up to the bass drop is new and inventive. Harris and Rihanna are a perfect mix and this song is a perfect fit for summer nights.

10. "One Dance" - Drake, Wiz Kid, Kyla

No list is complete without Drizzy's latest musical endeavor. "One Dance" is impossible to escape, but I cannot be mad about it. The beat and the mix of Drake's voice and the dulcet tones of Kyla and Wiz Kid make this one a fresh song to dance to. This song is not going away any time soon and we should all just accept it because "One Dance" is fresh and infectious in the best way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
