I know that since we've hit July that most of our New Year's resolutions have gone down the drain. However, that doesn't mean that we can't achieve a healthy lifestyle. So without further ado, here are 10 ways to start living a healthier lifestyle without a huge hassle.
1. Get a gym membership.
I'm not really sure what it is, but I've always found that I am much better at working out when I am in an actual gym environment. Since there are people there, I feel like I can't slack because someone will see. It is also easy to get a membership that doesn't break your bank. Planet Fitness offers its famous 10$ a month membership, and a lot of gyms offer student discounts if you ask!
2. Eat at least 1 serving of fruit per day and 2 servings of vegetables.
With the hustle and bustle of life, sometimes we can forget to put the most beneficial things into our bodies. I hate vegetables, so I often find juices that have vegatables in them to replace the taste. I could eat fruit for days. Since doing this, I have found that I feel so much better throughout the day and have more energy.
3. Keep a water bottle with you at all times.
Drinking water completely cleanses your body in ways that can't be done by drinking juice or sports drinks. I've found that if I drink water throughout the day, I feel more energized and healthy, and am more willing to do the things that I procrastinate on.
4. Treat your self.
Buy yourself cute bath bombs and cute workout clothes and cute water bottles. Do whatever you need to do to keep yourself motivated to work out. I have often found that if I get myself a cute water bottle I feel like I need to go workout so I can use it. Buy yourself small things that won't break the bank for lots of encouragement.
5. Eat snacks throughout the day.
I know sometimes when I eat healthy, the end of the day is so hard for me because all I want is a pizza, which is the worst thing for you late at night. However, a handful of almonds throughout the day or a few yogurt-covered raisins every hour will make you less hungry throughout the day and will also keep you more energized.
6. Cut back on caffeine.
I'm not saying rid yourself of caffeine entirely because I literally breathe caffeine. However, it won't kill you to take your grande Starbucks drink down to a tall or your medium Dunkin drink down to a small. I've found that I'm not so immune to caffeine after drinking smaller amounts, so on nights I need to stay up and cram that a vente does wonders, where it wouldn't before.
7. Take pictures of your progress.
Keep track of how your body is changing. That way, in a few weeks or months, when you feel like you aren't making progress, you can remind your self that you are sculpting your body and that changes are happening. It is the most rewarding thing to compare pictures and see that your lost weight is becoming noticeable.
8. Workout with friends.
It's always easier to workout when you're surrounded by people who will push you. It kind of goes along with #1 in the sense that when you are working out around people, you tend to work harder because you know people are watching.
9. Keep your goals on your mirror.
Do this so that every morning when you wake up, you can look and see your goal as a reminder. I've found that seeing my goals first thing when I wake up sort of sets the tone for my day and makes me feel a little bit invincible.
10. Park in the back of the lot.
You'd be surprised how many steps you'll get on your Apple Watch or Fitbit when you park in the back of the lot and have to walk further to the store. When you get bored, go to the mall and walk around everywhere. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Small things make all of the difference.
