Every semester so far, I've devoted an Odyssey article to the bane of all of our existence, that most deleterious of instants: Registration.
This year, ConnectCarolina has some new tricks up its sleeve: A new color palette! A new font! Sadly, though, no new interface, capable of actually supporting all 7,000+ undergraduates registering at the same time. Maybe next year!
With all the difficulties, there are really ten easy steps to registration...
1. Creating the perfect schedule.
You've been to advising and planned out the next five semesters. You're ready. You know what you want and you're going to get it. You've got the breaks you want, the times you want, the buildings you want, the professors you want... in a word, it's...
Now that you're all on the same page, you can all band together for the best (or is it worst) possible panicking outcome.
7. Everyone hates on the one friend with an 8 a.m. registration time.
Maybe it's not their fault, but then, maybe it is.
8. The hour of registration approaches.
You're nervous but you've kind of accepted your fate. It'll all be over soon.
9. It's... not so bad?
You get three out of five classes, and, okay, they weren't the ones you really wanted, but you do need them and they will go towards your major. The other two you got seem okay too. Maybe all the panic was for nothing?
10. It's over, until next semester.
You'll probably forget that you don't need to panic by then, so you'll be more than ready to repeat these ten simple steps at that point. But for now, you can celebrate.
