For some of us, the 1990's were a faint memory. For others of us, the 1990's were important in shaping into the people we are today. Nevertheless, the 1990's was a decade we all find ourselves reminiscing over from time to time. From the myriad of boybands we fell in love with to the best era of television to date, the 90's captivated our hearts. You know you grew up in the 1990's if...

1. You owned Lisa Frank everything.

Notebooks, stickers, clothes, you know you owned it all. Lisa Frank was the original Lilly Pullitzer. This was at the peak of unicorns' popularity, and not even a little part of me is ashamed. I mean, if you're not talking Lisa Frank, I don't want to talk.

2. The amount of slap bracelets you owned was ridiculously large.

You're lying if you say you didn't own slap bracelets with every design. Slap bracelets were the perfect, stylish accessory to compliment any outfit.

3. You read every Goosebumps book.

Even the kids who hated reading, read Goosebumps. R.L. Stine's mind was a gold mine, it seemed. My favorite was the one where you got to choose the ending by choosing from different scenarios. I even watched the show, but nothing was a great as the books.

4. Furbies were a must.

Having a Furby was like having your very own pet. You had to take care of them, feed them, and they even slept. Mine always creeped my mom out, and now I can kind of understand why. They looked way to similar to gremlins.

5. Your exercise routine consisted mainly of Skip It.

Skip Its were the bomb dot com. What better way to exercise and have fun? The only downside was the battle wounds obtained from not skipping fast enough.

6. Everyone had to drop what they were doing when The Macarena started playing.

This dance made the difference between a gathering and a party. If we were someone and we heard it come on, we knew it was about to get lit.

7. Crayola Stamp Markers were an essential school supply.

Having these were like having your own special little territory marker. My mom was always mad at more for getting stamps on everything. I get a stamp. You get a stamp. We all get a stamp. STAMPS FOR EVERYONE.

8. Boy bands made you swoon.

If you weren't in a boy band, then bye bye bye. The only drool worthy guys were those that sang and danced in front of millions of people. From Backstreet Boys to NSYNC to 98 Degrees, the only acceptable guys had bleach blond tips and shiny leather trench coats.

9. You experimented with crimped hair.

Your 90's style icons all tried it, so you did too. It never looked as good in real life as it did on Britney Spears. It always ended up looking more like you stuck your finger in a socket rather than an actual, on purpose hairstyle.

10. TV shows were better than they ever will be again.

Television was the best part of the 90's. Hey Arnold!, Home Improvement, Rugrats, Doug, All That, The Powerpuff Girls, The Amanda Show, The Angry Beavers, Saved By The Bell, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, etc. Need I even say more?

Gone, but never forgotten. R.I.P. 90's. You will forever be in our hearts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
