Ever since I was a little girl, being the first born always meant something to me. My dad and I shared a first for everything we did. I always have been super close to my dad, whether that be sharing food or memories, we did everything together. Ever since I've grown up, I began to realize I needed my dad more than I actually thought.
1. Memories that you'll never live down.
"Remember that time thought the movie was 'Indian in the Cup-Board' instead of 'Indian in the Cupboard'?"
"Or the time you ran into the shopping cart trying to chase me around the grocery store...good times"
Thanks for reminding me, dad.
2. Spontaneous trips to your favorite restaurant.
No matter the time of day or what you are doing, the question, "Do you wanna go to the Horseshoe or Dairy Haven?" never fails.
3. Constant calls to check up on you.
Even though you might have talked an hour ago at home, there always is that 5-minute phone call to ask "Where are you?" that turns into the typical "Tell me about your day."
4. Supporting you always.
Whether that be the 5-minute conversation after a hard sports game or making sure you have someone to come to when things are rough.
5. Brags about you to everyone he meets.
"My oldest daughter got a full ride to play soccer for SWIC and lives on campus."
"My daughter's high school team won state."
"My daughter has 2 jobs."
6. Oddly sharing the same interest.
"Wanna go to the Cardinals game Sunday?"
"Did you catch how the Blues did on Wednesday? What a mess it was."
7. Being able to gossip about anyone to him.
Seeing the pictures that were posted by that girl you aren't friends with anymore and your dad listening to your petty drama.
8. Sports.
Having to like the same sports team because he likes them to just so you don't have to hear the boo-hoo-ing when his Yankees made an error in the 1st four innings. All you can do is give him that satisfaction of being upset too, am I right?
9. Taking your side in an argument.
When your mom and you don't get along easily, your dad always is the one to step in a be on your side because it just shows how he cares.
10. Saying 'I love you' once every blue moon.
Enough said. He cares but is unsure to show it to you so he doesn't seem vulnerable.
