Growing up in New Jersey, I have always loved taking a quick train ride into New York City to explore its endless possibilities, especially its array of restaurants. No matter what you're craving, I can promise you that NYC has it. If you're living in the city this summer, here's a list of some of my favorite restaurants that you should try:
1. The Grey Dog
The Grey Dog has a great vibe, and even better food. Located in Chelsea, this laid-back restaurant is the perfect place to sit and eat a variety of fresh food. My personal favorite here is the mac & cheese and the raspberry lemonade. It's also a great spot to sit and get work done.
2. Prune
This quaint spot for Sunday brunch has delicious food and awesome coffee. Weekends get busy, and I have had to wait for a table before, but it was worth it. Meal to order: eggs benedict (it came with the best potatoes too).
3. The Standard Grill
Located under The High Line, this restaurant is an open space with an excellent selection of food. I went here for brunch, and it was fantastic. There's also a beautiful outdoor seating area that is perfect for a summer evening with friends.
4. Sweet Revenge
If you have a craving for something sweet, this is your place. This cute spot is known for delicious cupcakes. There's also the option of buying a cupcake and pairing it with a glass of wine, only for those who are 21+ though!
5. Shake Shack
It's everywhere, you know what it is. Seriously, try it if you haven't.
6. Serendipity
There are multiple locations of this restaurant. The food is awesome, and they are famous for their frozen hot chocolate (it's very good). Other than the food, the interior is adorable, with a charming and whimsical feel.
7. Tao
If you want a fancier setting and delicious Pan-Asian food, then this is your place. I went here for my best friend's 16th birthday, and it definitely stuck out to me. The space is huge, which is perfect for large parties. I also met Ice T and Coco here (they were not very friendly).
8. S'MAC
Located in the East Village, this is the perfect place for any macaroni & cheese lover like myself. You can't miss the bright orange theme that's going on both inside and outside of the restaurant. The menu is simple, but the food is worth it.
9. Egg Shop
Lots of eggs, lots of delicious food. I've gone here for brunch, but they also have a dinner option as well. There's always a line outside, but it moves quickly so I highly recommend waiting!
10. El Pote
I grew up going to this restaurant. My dad is from Spain, so this was the perfect place to get some traditional Spanish food (my dad also knows the owners). The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. One of my all-time favorites.
