With the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, there have been many speaking out against the participants. Politicians, celebrities, and world leaders had words to say about what went down and there were some who gave responses without beating around the bush and there are others who avoided directly dealing with the issue.

Namely, when president Donald Trump first responded, he seemed to dance around the fact that one side of the protest was a white supremacist movement. The following people responded to the events in Charlottesville and most of the respondents clearly expressed who crossed the line.

1. Jimmy Kimmel

Buzzfeed put together an article detailing what the late night hosts said about Charlottesville. Jimmy Kimmel responded not only to the events, but the response of the president.

2. Angela Merkel

German chancellor Angela Merkel responded strongly to the Charlottesville events as well as to what president Trump had to say.

3. Zendaya

Zendaya tweeted this speaking out against the white supremacists in Charlottesville.

4. Nicola Sturgeon

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon responded to the events in Charlottesville on Twitter.

5. J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling tweeted this about Charlottesville and later tweeted this when Trump responded.

6. Justin Trudeau

7. John McCain

8. Jodi Picoult

Author Jodi Picoult had this to say in response to Trump's response. Buzzfeed put together an article on what famous writers had to say about Trump's response.

9. Donald Trump

President Donald Trump continues to respond to the events in Charlottesville. On August 15, Trump defended the white supremacists and blaming what he calls the "alt-left" for the violence.

10. Barack Obama

Former president Barack Obama responded to Charlottesville with a Nelson Mandela quote and his tweet has since become the most liked tweet ever.

Everything that happened in Charlottesville has moved many people to condemn the acts of hatred explicit in the white supremacist rally. It has brought universal attention to America and the violent actions of the protesters cannot be undone.

In spite of this, the white supremacist and Nazi participants of the rally have not been condemned and displaced in the way they should have. Rather, the president condemned the violence "on many sides" and blamed the "alt-left" for the violence. President Trump has been dancing around directly blaming the alt-right, the white supremacists, the Nazis for their actions and America is hurting because of it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
