10 Reasons Why We Should Thank Our Moms
Samantha Rivas

To me, being a mother is quite possibly the greatest thing any woman can be. Mothers are strong and resilient no matter what the situation and somehow, they’re always able to fix any problem we may have with ease. For all that moms do for us, it’s about time we thank them for everything.

1. Thank you for being my biggest fan.

Whether you were sitting through an awards ceremony at school or being drenched by pouring rain at one of my games, you’ve always made sure I had someone there cheering me on.

2. Thank you for the laughter.

Do I think you could take up a career as a stand up comedian? No, but you always manage to make me laugh even when the day hasn’t been very kind to me.

3. Thank you for the hugs that you give.

Sometimes I have a rough day and all I really want is a mom hug. Somehow they make everything feel OK again.

4. Thank you for forgiving me even when your feelings were hurt.

I’m sorry for giving you an attitude, especially when it’s not even you I’m mad at. You’ve always found it in your heart to forgive me though.

5. Thank you for being selfless.

You’ve given up sleep for me, time for me, sanity for me. To you, I always have and always will come first.

6. Thank you for making me wake you up every time I got home late.

Sometimes it may have been annoying, but you only did it because you worried. You only wanted to be sure that I was at home safe.

7. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on.

I know I cry a lot about a bunch of different things. I’m definitely a handful but the world can be cruel and I’m extremely sensitive.

8. Thank you for accepting me for me.

It doesn’t matter that I trip over everything or that I stress over the small things. You’ve never turned down the person I am. Rather, you’ve always helped me learn to embrace it.

9. Thank you for teaching me about traditions.

My Christmas obsession will always reflect the millions of decorations you insist on putting up and the corny new pajamas we get every year.

10. Thank you for being you.

You’re not perfect and come with flaws but how you embrace those flaws is what’s teaching me to be the person I am today. As much as I’m learning each day you are too and by growing together I’ve taken away so much.

Thank you for being the best mom a girl could ever ask for.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
