If there is anyone who strives to promote our Georgia College value statement of “Reason, Respect and Responsibility,” it’s Leslie Knope. She is enthusiastic and loyal, and she looks to make a difference in the world around her. Here are 10 reasons why Leslie Knope is a true GCSU Bobcat at heart:

1. She understands that a pit can be a dangerous place.

Leslie understands that any pit can be a threatening place. She knows firsthand that taking a stroll near The Pit can quickly turn into a nasty.. uh... trip.

2. Her love for breakfast food could only be satisfied by the Local Yokal.

The Local Yokal is one of the best places to order up a big plate of breakfast food. Leslie understands just how important that first meal of the day is. In fact, she would probably be found there for every meal.

3. She understands the importance victory, especially in Greek Week.

Things can get pretty heated during Greek Week. If Leslie Knope was at Georgia College, there's no doubt that she would make her mark on the dodgeball court.

4. She’s a Southern girl at heart.

Leslie understands the importance of being outdoors. She can get down and dirty with the best of them, so there is no doubt that she would thrive in the 47gr8, the very heart of Georgia.

5. She appreciates nurses and all of the hard work they do.

GCSU has one of the best nursing programs in the state, and though Leslie was never medically minded herself, she appreciated those who were. She would be a leading supporter of those who will one day save the lives of many.

6. She understands the confusion we all experience when we hear “business attire."

Career Fairs strike fear into the hearts of many here at GCSU, and nothing spells intimidation quite like those feared words, “business attire required”. Leslie understood just how important it is to dress for the occasion, but even she got confused by all of those rules and regulations.

7. She understands the frustration we all feel at the library during finals week.

Finals week has a nasty habit of bringing out the very worst in us. We are all hyped up on caffeine and in need of some serious sleep. Add that to the lack of study rooms and open computers in the library, and it makes for a pretty bad combination. If nothing else, Leslie is definitely an advocate (though maybe a violent one) for expansion of the library.

8. She knows that, after a long week, nothing is more relaxing than a cool drink at Chops.

One thing about Leslie Knope—she knows how to relax with style. After a long day of tests, projects, and class, she understands the need to unwind and take it down a notch with a cold one. What better place to do this than Chops? The low lighting, social atmosphere, and good drinks make it the kind of place Leslie would frequent.

9. She understands how heated GCSU election season can be.

Who better to understand the intense college politics than our favorite politician? Leslie knows that debates and elections thrive on passion. After all, she, better than anyone else, recognizes that the election season is one of the most important parts of every year.

10. As a dog lover, she appreciates when puppies come on campus.

Leslie empathizes with pups who have no other home-- just like our very own Cupid’s Club, an organization that allows the Milledgeville community to interact pets from local animal shelters. She knows how important it is for these animals (and us to get some loving’).

Thanks for the inspiration, Leslie. We’re glad to have you on board as an honorary Bobcat, you beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk ox.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
