If you weren't given the opportunity of having a brother, I'm truly sorry that you missed out on one of the greatest blessings life can offer. My "little" brother, who has actually been ten times bigger than I am for years now and gets mistaken for the older one, has always been my best friend.
Though I could go on about why he's so great, I've narrowed it down to 10 reasons why having a brother is the best.
1. He's your biggest protector.
There's no way to escape getting hurt by a guy in your life, with the exception of your brother. He's your best guy and the one who hurts the boys who hurt you.
2. You can share all your secrets with him.
My brother is the one person in this world I don't keep anything from. We have a bond like no other, back when I lived at home we would always make an excuse on Sundays to go on a drive and catch up on the latest drama in each other's lives. It's great because he's your brother, you literally can't tell him anything that will make him love you any less.
3. They always cover for you.
Remember those times in high school when you had to sneak back in at 4 a.m. and text your little brother for help (mom, I'm kidding!!!) But really, you know if you're ever in a bad situation, you can always rely on him to help you through it.
4. There's no competition.
Literally, my brother could not be anymore chill. When I have kids I hope I have a boy and a girl because our interest are completely different, and there's never any type of competition with each other.
5. His friends become your friends.
Chances are you've watched your brother's friends grow up you're whole life just like they were your own brother. The one I have to point out; Jansen Twigg, I love you. He really is my other little brother. There's nothing like walking in on a Friday night and sitting up for hours talking and attempting to play Xbox with your brother and his friends.
6. His t-shirts are always better.
Bryce, (my brother) gets so annoyed with me because 99% of the time I take all of his t-shirts/sweatshirts. I'm sure that is probably one thing he doesn't miss about me not living there anymore.
7. You always have him to lean on.
Sometimes you have bad days and just need to cry without explaining it, and unlike a mom or your girl best friend your brother isn't as nosey so you can literally just cry on him until you feel like talking.
8. You always know what you're talking about when it comes to sports.
OK, girls, I know we can all admit that at some point we've wanted to look like our sports knowledge is amazing to impress that cute football player. Just ask your brother, he'll know and then you're good to go.
9. They never judge you.
I can honestly say my brother has seen the absolute worst parts of me, and I have never felt judged or like he was disappointed in me. He's my rock, I had a bit of a rough patch during high school but he was always my go to, he helped me get through anything life threw at me.
10. You're forever best friends.
No matter what you're stuck with each other forever which is awesome because he's the person who lets you know that you'll never be alone in this world.
Bryce, thank you for being my favorite person in this world. Thank goodness mom and dad decided to have another kid because my life would be so incomplete without you.
Brothers are the best, I 10/10 recommend being best friends with yours because of its the truest friendship you'll ever have.
With love,
Taylor Thompson
