I have always loved corgis and will continue to defend their majestic beauty against all those who claim they're not real dogs. Yes, I am part of the corgi cult--the group of humans who are obsessed with bread shaped butts and disproportionate bodies. I don't think I've ever pet a corgi without crying and I'm not ashamed. Just like the love people have for their children, the love I possess for corgis will only grow. Here are ten reasons why:
1. They're fluffy!
Because who doesn't like something so fluffy? Que Sir Mix-A-Lot, because baby got back.
2. They know how to relax
After a long walk to the mailbox, a challenging afternoon of chasing one's own tail, or bothering the neighborhood cat is enough to wear any pup out. Like any college student, corgis know how to kick back, relax and watch some Grey's Anatomy.
3. They love food as much as we do
If there is anything I can appreciate, it's food, especially pizza. I want someone to one day look at me in the same way this corgi is checking out his pizza.
4. They also get hangry, just like us.
"Oh.....KIBBLE!!" How dare we keep such fluffiness waiting! I know if I don't eat in a timely manner, I get hangry and express that feeling in fits of sarcasm and passive aggressiveness. Corgis prance and bark. Everyone has their thing, you know? It doesn't take away from the majestic nature of the corgi. I mean look at him!
5. They understand the importance of exercise.
Feel the burn! Burn off the bread! Nothing says fitness like a corgi in leg warmers.
6. They go with the flow.
Whether it's dressing them up in sweaters, making memes about them, or subjecting them to the thrills of a good swing, corgis just go with the flow.
7. They're adventurous.
Because what's life without a little thrill?
8. Bat ears!
Ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na BAT EARS! I mean, come on people! How can you not love this face?
9. They think this is the best form of transportation:
Nothing says innovation like a corgi and a Swiffer, am I right?
"Take me to my food, human!"
10. They're majestic.
"She is beauty and she is grace." You can't beat this majesty.
Sure, there are some that argue corgis aren't real dogs, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my friends. So, here's to you corgis. Stay disproportionate.
