So, it's no secret that Rachel messed up this past Monday, and "Bachelorette" fans are NOT happy about it. A little context for those who don't watch the show, Rachel had two men left to choose as her "forever," Peter and Bryan.
Peter wanted to get to know her better after the finale and actually spend time with her in real life before proposing, whereas Bryan was all about getting engaged immediately. Rachel and Peter had undeniable chemistry, but ultimately, she chose to settle for a ring and the title fiancé over an amazing guy who was actually taking the process of a relationship seriously. I'm still cringing from when she flashed the ring at the camera and shouted: "I'm a fiancé!" So, without further ado, here are 10 reasons Rachel should have picked Peter over Bryan.
1. Bryan kisses like he's trying to suck the life out of Rachel.
It's uncomfortable for everyone, and the number of times it occurred on the show was excruciating. These scenes should come with the tagline: "Viewer Discretion Advised." Peter, however, is on the normal end of the spectrum in this department and would likely not cause public nausea every time he kissed his GF.
*I'm not putting an image here because no one needs to see that*
2. Bryan is a huge mama's boy.
While I think it's important that guys have good relationships with their moms, this whole situation was overkill. When Rachel went to meet Bryan's family it became clear that there was going to be a constant mother/wife drama over the attention of Bryan. His mom literally
3. Bryan is a child.
He is literally so immature, as was evident on the show when he kept bringing up that he was the first to kiss Rachel on "Ellen"; he's always vying to be the center of attention, and once again, he kisses like a 13-year old boy who's just
4. Their jobs and home choices say a lot.
Outside of this show, Peter is a business owner in the wholesome and lovely town of Madison, Wisconsin, which I can attest is very family-oriented, as I used to live there. Bryan is a chiropractor from Miami. Need I say more?
*cough cough* douche *cough*
5. This brings me to my next point: Bryan is FAKE AF.
I'm sorry Rachel, but you are an intelligent woman, and a lawyer for
6. Bryan is single at 37.
And I'll concede that Bryan doesn't look 37, but if a guy hasn't ever settled down, and he's almost 40, a little voice saying "player" goes off in my head. Peter is 31 and had just ended a long-term relationship because it wasn't the be all end all, and I respect that because he didn't want to waste his time or her time, for that matter.
7. Peter has strong values.
He made it very clear that he was skeptical of this whole process and who wouldn't be? It only works out like six percent of the time, if that. He also explained that he takes marriage very seriously and only wants to get engaged once and married once. He said he was falling in love with Rachel, but since he had literally only known her for a few weeks, he wasn't ready for a proposal. Seems like a pretty understandable response to me. But then Rachel said that an engagement doesn't necessarily mean marriage; what rock are you living under, Rach? The words "will you MARRY me?" doesn't lead to marriage? I think you are alone in that sentiment, hun.
8. I don't have to tell you that Peter is a knockout in the looks department.
He's charming, funny, thoughtful, intelligent and an all-around catch. Whereas, Bryan…
9. Peter is adorable with children.
When hometown week occurred, Peter literally turned into Dad-mode with his niece. It's probably a primal thing, but a guy that is good with kids literally becomes 10 times hotter. No question. Hands down. Rachel wants to get married and have a family and this glimpse into his life showed that Peter is going to be an amazing dad, so once again, SMH Rach.
10. Peter is a real person.
In the hoopla that is the "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette", there is rarely a lot of "real" on this show. People are acting for the camera, trying to show a certain side of themselves. The dates are amazing, but not even close to real life. And the entire situation is dripping in the
Then, there's Peter. Peter is a real guy, trying to cultivate a real relationship amidst a show that is oozing fake illusions. The entire season gave you insights of how seriously he was taking this. He is such a down to earth guy, and once the cameras leave, and the "magical" dates stop, I think he would still make life incredible for
All I'm saying is Rach, you messed up. And while Peter was visibly hurt on ‘after the final rose,’ he’s going to be fine when this is all said and done because he knows what he wants.
It may take a little more time, but when he finds that person, he’s going to be set for life. And you, well, you’re stuck with Bryan because you jumped the gun. Enjoy your shiny ring.
