All college students procrastinate too much, right? Wrong! I don’t. I never have and I never will. Okay that’s not totally true. College did make me procrastinate a tiny bit more than I did before, but not much. I always get my work done as soon as I can, that’s just my nature. Why you ask? Well here are twelve reasons in list form in case you get lost.
- It makes me more anxious. Yep putting my homework off to the last minute makes me crazy anxious, and I don’t need to be any more anxious than I already am.
- I forget about stuff. If I put it off I forget about it. I’m used to having it done early, so if the deadline is a day away, I’ll forget because I assume I finished it already like I always do.
- I don’t do a good of a job on my work. If I am anxious about getting it done I don’t focus on doing a good job, I just focus on getting it done. At that point why am I even doing it if I am not performing at my best?
- I feel lazy. I don’t like to feel lazy therefore I don’t like to procrastinate. I’m not saying that procrastinating makes you lazy, but that’s how it makes me feel.
- It’s not worth it. Sure I could binge watch half a season of Mad Men, but I’ll be up half the night stressing about the work that I didn’t do instead of dreaming about marrying an advertising executive in 1960s New York.
- I like to take my time on my work. When I procrastinate I can’t spend the time I want to on my work, and I like to have all the time I need to get my work done.
- Doing all the work in one sitting it exhausting. Writing a paper the night before it’s due sounds horrible. I wouldn’t know, but I’ve seen my friends the next morning and it isn’t pretty.
- I feel like I cheated the system. If I crank out a report the night before it’s due I feel like it’s cheating. Don’t ask my why, but I feel like my professors could tell that I cheated on the paper.
- My grades are worse. I usually never got equal or better grades when I procrastinated than when I didn’t.
- I don’t like to do it. I just don’t like to procrastinate.
