We are all always striving to better ourselves and change things up a bit, but oftentimes, it seems like some of the most common goals are a little too unrealistic. We either don't have the time in the day to achieve them, don't know how to achieve them, or they just don't seem plausible. It can be really difficult maintaining a strong mindset and persisting when you are trying to achieve your goals, but it doesn't have to be.
1. Drink more water
I know you have probably heard this a million and one times, but it can make the biggest difference. All you have to do is carry a refillable bottle around with you and fill it up anytime you go somewhere. Drinking more water has so many benefits (to name a few: better sleep, weight loss, clear skin, and more energy) and is so simple to achieve.
2. Make your bed every morning
I know that it's hard to find time to make your bed every morning, especially if you're usually in a rush, but getting up two minutes earlier to make your bed will make you feel like you have your life together. It usually makes you want to keep a clean room too, which is never a bad thing. You are more likely to be productive later on in the day if you come home to a bed that isn't waiting for you to crawl in.
3. Read more
You may hate everything about reading, but even if it is just an article online every day or every few days, it can make a difference. Reading helps keep your mind engaged and improves writing, and if you find something you really like to read, it can become a great hobby.
4. Try to make someone's day/be nicer
When we're having the worst day of our life, it can be hard to even imagine making an effort to be nice to someone else. But if you were having a bad day, wouldn't you want someone to go out of their way to be nice to you? The smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. You can hold the door open for someone, offer to buy their meal, text them encouraging words, or even just compliment something about the person you're interacting with.
5. Give yourself more "me" time
We are always getting so caught up in our busy schedules that we forget to take care of ourselves sometimes. It can be hard to find the time of day to take care of yourself, but I promise you there's at least one morning or night a week where you can take some extra time for yourself. Read a book, do yoga, go for a run, workout, plan your day, listen to your favorite music, clean, pamper yourself, whatever it is, you can find some time to do what you love, and it will make the biggest difference in your day or week.
6. Save more money
Saving money takes a lot of discipline and strength. Spending money on food, clothes, and other things we love is hard not to do. You can always try putting away all the change you get in a jar, or even better, putting away every one dollar or five dollar bill you receive for six months or a year. You'd be surprised at how much you can accumulate by making such a small change.
7. Communicate with others
A lot of times when we get busy, we tend to push people aside, whether it's a friend or loved ones. We don't realize how important human interaction is until we lose it, and it truly can turn your day around. Make an effort to find a few minutes to talk to someone on the phone or text them for a little bit.
8. Get your things for the next day ready the night before
You've probably heard this one before, but preparing for the next day before you go to bed can give you so much more extra time in the mornings. Pick out your outfit, pack your lunch, tidy up your room, or pack up your purse or backpack; it will save you so much time.
9. Experience new things
Get out of your comfort zone. Every opportunity you get to try something new or go somewhere new, do it. We grow by trying new things and learning new things, and there is a wonderful peace of mind that comes with going to new places and becoming comfortable with something that once made you anxious.
10. Find good in the ugly
When everything is going exactly the opposite of how you planned, aim to find something good to dwell on instead, no matter how hard it may seem. Your mindset will always determine the outcome of any situation you end up in.
