As Potential New Members are getting ready for recruitment, I am getting ready to welcome a girl into my perfect sorority family as my little. Here are 10 promises to my future little.

1. I promise to always be down to get food with you – no matter what – because food is important in our family.

2. I promise to be your "cool" mom.

3. I’ll guide you through sorority life and college.


4. I’ll cram with you for tests (and provide study snacks).

5. I promise to like (and comment) on all your social media posts.

6. I promise to be weirdly obsessed with you and everything you do, so don’t be embarrassed.

7. I promise to give you the best advice I have.

8. I will always love you, support you and help you grow.

9. I promise to spoil you always.

10. Lastly, I promise to always be your best friend, your go-to and your person.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
