For some, this is a place that is very secluded and far away from any type of distraction. For others, this space of productivity is where they are surrounded by people, but able to study with their headphones in. Whatever your style of studying may be, here is a list of 10 suggestions of nice places to study as a student at San Diego State University.

1.The 3rd Floor of the Union

Looking to study in a comfortable, yet secluded area? Head up to the 3rd floor of the Student Union and sit yourself down on one of the comfortable outdoor seating chairs and study with a view of your gorgeous campus!

2. The 3rd Floor of the Library

If you are looking to study or work with a group of people, the 3rd floor of the Love Library is an exceptional location to be productive. It is labeled as the “food friendly area” and is the first place found when coming off the staircase. While in this area, it is not a requirement to be completely silent, thus making group work more possible. There are even whiteboards and markers available to figure out those hard chemistry problems!

3. The Union Starbucks

If you are someone who likes to be surrounded by people while studying, the Starbucks at the Student Union may be a good study/work area for you. If you use earphones, the atmosphere of this particular on-campus Starbucks is comforting and homey. It is especially nice to study here during the afternoons when there are fewer people.

4.The Patio behind Storm Hall

Do you like studying outdoors but you need a solid table to spread out all of your things? There is a nice patio behind Storm Hall that is the perfect location to study, work, eat, or even take a short nap in between classes!

5.On the Grass Next to Turtle Pond

Some people find the sound of the pond and the smell of the grassy outdoors comforting while trying to be productive.

6. 3rd Floor of Arts & Letters Building

The 3rd floor of the Arts & Letters building is an odd but secluded area if you are really looking to avoid any distractions. There are a few comfortable chairs with desks attached to them next to some of the windows. You will almost always be able to find at least one of these spaces available!

7. The Rooftop of Zura Hall

Although only residents of Zura Hall have access to its rooftop, if you are lucky enough to live in this beautiful freshman residential dorm, this outside space is perfect for studying with a view.

8. Outside the "off-campus" Starbucks

The Starbucks that is part of the meal plan but a bit off of campus is another great place to study. There is a section of the building that is a sheltered outdoor space filled with comfortable chairs and tables--a perfect place to satisfy both your caffeine and studying needs.

9. The Printing Center in the Library

Although this area of the library is often a bit louder than the others, it is ideal if you need a caffeine break! Inside this part of the library itself is one of the campuses BCB cafes. There are also computers available for anyone’s use.

10.2nd Floor of Storm Hall

Another secluded study space if you’re looking to studying alone is the 2nd floor of Storm Hall. This area is a little less known than some of the other spaces included in this list, and therefore it is uncommon for all of the seats to be completely occupied.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots.
