I have yet to meet an Odyssey EIC who doesn't adore what they do.

Being an Editor in Chief (EIC) for Odyssey is truly a position like none other. It tests your organization, management skills, and self-motivation capabilities. It's tough work, but in the long run, it absolutely pays off and becomes like second nature. I've put together ten moments that I'm positive all EICs have encountered throughout their time with Odyssey.

1. Being on track to hit your monthly targets and feeling like a complete boss

There is no better feeling than having your team manager and content strategist tell you that you're on track. You deserve to feel on top of the world, so relish in the glory.

2. When a creator says they can't have their article in on time due to how much school work they have, then you see them partying on Snapchat

Not. Cool. To quote the Lizzie McGuire movie, "You are on my list."

3. Loving that one person in the GroupMe chat who always likes and responds to your messages

Trust me, I see you and I appreciate the support. You keep me going on those days it seems like no one wants to see another message from me. Shout out to the enthusiastic one person audience.

4. Waiting for articles to come in on Wednesday night so you can edit, then realizing you haven't finished your own article

This happens to me way too often.

5. Having a creator stop submitting and quit because they didn't realize submissions were weekly.

Wait, so even though in my initial email and the interview I specifically said this was weekly, you didn't know. Sorry, I'm confused.

6. Wiping literal tears away when over half of your creators submit early

It's truly a wonderful feeling. This is the point that you know you've on-boarded some dedicated and loyal contributors who want the best for the community and themselves. Take pride in this moment.

7. Trying to inspire your creators to submit on time and give 100% on each article

People are busy, and all Editor in Chiefs understand that and relate (more than you know), but it all pays off in the long run. Odyssey is an amazing stepping stone for writers, photographers, and videographers, and is an excellent method of getting your work published. We, as EICs, recognize this and want our creators to do everything they can to succeed. Please let me boost your portfolio!

8. Suggesting some changes to an article and having a creator shoot some fire ideas back at you

There is nothing better than having creators who genuinely want to put their best work out there and improve their writing. They are true heroes of Odyssey communities everywhere.

9. Loving your wonderful contributors like family, through good times and bad

All any EIC wants is for the creative people in his or her community to shine and grow. When we see how far each creator has come individually, we can't help but get feels.

10. Absolutely adoring what you do, who you do it with, and the organization you do it for

I can't emphasize enough how much I've learned from Odyssey. Being an EIC has given me confidence and prepared me for my future in this industry. I love my creators, my managers, and my contributing editors and directors so much. They keep me going and help me do what I love for the community I can't get enough of.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
