10 Life Lessons Taught By 'One Tree Hill'

One Tree Hill taught me great life lessons and here are 10 things that I learned:

1. Real Nathan Scotts do exist, but it takes time and you will eventually find him.

At times your will get your heart broken in the process looking for the right one. You will eventually be as happy as Nathan and Haley, but he is just busy with Peyton right now.

2. High school is just your time to find yourself and work hard and succeed.

No matter what your title was in high school will not affect you because look how successful Brooke turned out to be even though what happened during her high school experience.

3. No matter how long someone has been gone you will still think of them no matter what.

Whitey was affected by this in the last season, but never forgot any of the wise things that he gave to people. If you think about it Karen, Andy, and Lily were gone, but you always wondered what they were doing. Same thing happened with Lucas and Peyton. They left and every single episode that you watched without them in it you wondered what they were doing and how they are.

4. Most people give second chances and it is okay.

When the whole Chris Keller thing happened and if Nathan did not give Haley a second chance, then there would have been no Jamie or we wouldn’t look up to Nathan and Haley’s relationship.

5.You decisions might scare you at times and that's okay. Just go for it.

And you can deal with what happens later. Its okay if you get your heart broken a million times, it might look dumb in the past but in the future it makes you happy.

6. Be yourself.

People are going to label you and it is how you overcome those labels that matters. If it wasn’t for Brooke, you would never know that you just need to be happy with yourself. Don’t make others happy before you.

7. It is life.

You might make some poor decisions and do things that you know you shouldn't have done, but that is how you learn from them. There is nothing to be afraid of. It’s just life and you have to live it to the fullest.

8. Your friends become your family.

Throughout the show, these group of friends are always together no matter what. They become more than just friends. They become family and help each out through the hard times and the good times. They are always together.

9. You matter.

Marvin aka “Mouth” wants everyone to know that you are important in life and that your actions shape you to become a well-rounded individual.

10. There is only One Tree Hill.

This place is very special. The characters grow and their stories evolve during the show. This is a quote that I live by, "In your life you’re going to go to some great places, and you’re going to do some wonderful things. But not matter where you go, or who you become, this place will always be with you, there is only One Tree Hill and it’s your home”

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
