If anyone is a television buff like myself they are aware that there are plenty of great TV shows especially in the world of sitcoms. In my own unbiased opinion, "How I Met Your Mother" is one of if not the best sitcoms. The show is filled with laughs, cringe-worthy moments, and above all life lessons can actually be learned.
From the time the show started in 2005 and the nine seasons that followed until the series finale in 2014, I grew up and matured through the antics the characters in the show were involved in. Now those of you that have not seen the show the following lessons will hopefully help you as much as they have helped me over the years.
1. "Nothing good happens after 2AM."

2. Never settle for less than you deserve.
Our quirks are what define us, tolerance will eventually run out. Never sell yourself short.
3. Attempt to make everyday legendary.
By not accepting average or monotony in your life, you will help yourself live up to your own expectations.
4. It's sometimes okay to meddle in your friends lives.
Sometimes your friends need a push in the right direction, it's okay to be there for them, just don't over do it.
5. "The Olive Theory."

6. "The Mermaid Theory."
This theory says that men and women can be just friends once there is no longer a mermaid within the women and she becomes a manatee. In other terms the pair become comfortable enough with each other boundaries are no longer.
7. It's okay to feel and express your grief.

8. Do not be ashamed of your past.

9. Your soulmate does not always have to be your spouse.

10. It's okay to make an ass of yourself.
Big romantic gestures never go out of style. Putting yourself out there is not a mistake. Even if it is sometimes even if you know it is a mistake you need to make it anyway.
