True Blood Fans Everywhere mourn the unexpected death of one of our own, Nelsan Ellis. In 2009, Ellis took on the role Of Lafayette, a gay short-order cook that faced many dark orders both human and supernatural through the show. He was in all ways, a beacon of hope. Lafayette may have been a fictional character, but Ellis made him into someone malleable, someone relatable. Here are lessons that he has taught us:
1. Be Unapologetically Yourself
2. Family Is Life - Regardless Of Blood
3. Bad Shit Happens
4. Good Shit Happens Too
5. Take Care Of Yourself
6. But Also Know It's Ok To Be Taken Care Of
7. Never, NEVER, Let Other People Tear You Down
8. There's Always A Crazy In The Family
9. Embrace Your Gifts
10. You Can Make It (Even After The Bad Shit)
Thank You, Nelsan Ellis. Words cannot describe the sadness I am feeling for your loss. You and your potential will be in my heart forever. Stay Fabulous and rest easy La-La.
