They say that high school is the best time of your life, yet I beg to differ. Of course, I have quite a few fond memories, but surely most would agree that there is not that much to miss compared to the many opportunities that lie ahead. Here are a few things about high school that I am more than glad to have left behind:
1. Hardly having anytime between classes
Good luck getting the chance to use the bathroom between classes when your teacher keeps you two minutes late and your next class is on the other side of the school.
2. Asking to go the bathroom
In college, you just get up and go. No hand-raising necessary, no questions asked.
3. Waking up early
Why would anyone miss going to class before 8 am every single day?
4. State testing
Spending several hours straight on tests isn't exactly fun.
5. ACT/SAT/AP tests
These were even worse than state testing because they actually mattered...
6. School lunches
It is nice to have a break from a long day of classes, but spending half an hour in a crowded lunchroom isn't the ideal way to do so.
7. High school sports teams
Enthusiastic support for high school teams is fantastic, just sometimes a bit hard to understand.
8. Pep Rallies
This one comes back to the whole school spirit deal. Where did it all come from? At least pep rally days meant shorter classes.
9. Being with all the same people
Unless your high school was huge, it's likely that you went through most of your classes with the same groups of people.
10. Taking classes you have no interest in
It is not like that completely changes after high school, but in college, you can finally focus your education on what will prepare you most for the future you want to pursue.
