Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I have a few different reasons why.
1. Halloween
I figured I would put the obvious first. This is the time of year when everyone can dress up, be whatever/whoever they want to be, carve pumpkins, binge-watch scary movies, and my favorite: World's of Fun's Halloween Haunt.
This is when people can be at their most creative.
2. Acceptable Time to Binge-Eat Candy
Honestly, if someone found me binge-eating a bag of candy at any other time of the year, there would be judgment. Even from myself. But when it's fall, and Halloween season, it's acceptable. Go for it, eat all the candy corn and fun sized chocolate bars that you want. The weight doesn't count, it's a holiday.
3. Thanksgiving

While the main point of Thanksgiving is to spend time with loved ones, I have to admit I love the food aspect of Thanksgiving.
As a struggling college student who lives off of the bare minimum, when I'm faced with a whole feast at Thanksgiving time, I'll take what I can get.
And much more, since Thanksgiving food could feed me until Christmas comes around and it repeats. Also, we get a Thanksgiving break and the parade.
4. Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
This is the perfect time of year to be a basic white girl. I'll admit, I've become a little obsessed with Pumpkin Spice. Not just the lattes, but frappuccinos, and also milk (yes, it's a thing).
Also, I have to give shout out to pumpkin pie as well, it's one of my favorite things to have during Thanksgiving feasts. I can't help but think of fall anytime I have anything pumpkin related.
5. Bonfires
Although you can have bonfires anytime of the year, fall seems like a perfect time to have them. Just sitting around a huge fire in the cooler weather with your friends sounds like the perfect fall night for me.
6. The Leaves
Going along with the aesthetic of fall, the leaves are always so beautiful during this time of year.
This is one positive thing about living in the Midwest, where there seems to be more trees than humans, the fact that during fall is one of the best times to see and appreciate nature at its finest.
And this gives me the chance to bask in their beauty before all the leaves fall and die and the trees look dead and empty for the few months afterwards.
7. Perfect Weather
I figured the weather deserved its own recognition. I'm the type of person that loves this weather in between summer and winter. It's not too hot, not too cold. I absolutely hate sweating and wearing multiple layers of clothing just to keep warm and stop myself from going numb. So this season falls perfectly in the middle.
8. Flannels
While flannels are acceptable to wear at any time of the year, fall seems like the best time for everyone to dig them out of the back of their closets. Not only is the weather finally nice enough for them, but they fit in with the aesthetic of fall. And they're just so comfortable. Flannels and skinny jeans and (fake) Ugg boots is my go to fall attire.
9. Comfy Sweaters
Speaking of the perfect weather and comfort, fall is the perfect time to break out your cute comfy sweaters, cardigans, and even scarfs.
It's also the most acceptable time to break out your sweats and sweatshirts and use them as your daily clothing of choice instead of just wearing them around the house. We can finally be comfy and lazy AND outside without the fear of dying of heat.
10. No Shave November
So this may completely ruin the aesthetic of this whole list, but this is honestly one of the things I look forward to the most.
Shaving during the summer is such a chore, and once chilly season hits and I can break out my skinny jeans or (more commonly) my sweatpants, I don't have to worry as much.
I can go a little longer without getting anxiety in the middle of the day realizing I forgot to shave my legs. Thank you fall, for this slight relief in my stress.
If only Missouri would stop believing that it's still summer, then maybe we could actually get to some of these. I hope we actually get a fall season, and don't skip straight to winter. But this is the Midwest, anything could happen.
