10 Things You Need To Do During Fall Break

A week can go by fast when you're doing nothing.

Congratulations Villanova Students! You've made it through mid-term week! Now you get a well-deserved week off after all the stress of studying. It's time to bring home all of your summer clothes. I'm here to tell you how to fully destress once you get home to your own bed and avoid the regret of not enjoying your free time.

1. Take naps.

You don't realize how sleep deprived you can become while you're at university. Get some shut-eye, get rid of those dark circles, and remember what having energy feels like!

2. Watch the news.

Grab a cup of coffee when you wake up and take a seat in front of your TV in a cozy blanket. Catch up on some events you may have missed while you were too busy memorizing verb tenses.

3. Cuddle with pets.

Yeah, there are therapy dogs (and a bunny?!) on campus every week but nothing is the same as snuggling up with your own cat or dog. And if you don't have a pet, grab a loved one or your favorite pillow!

4. Take a bath.

Take advantage of not having to share a small, grimy shower with 50 other people. Take your time, invest in a bath bomb, and cover yourself with bubbles. Treat yo self!

5. Eat at your favorite restaurant.

Dining hall food and chain restaurants will never satisfy you when you miss your local favorites. Have your parents take you out to a meal (and make them pay because you're a broke college kid) and savor that food like it's nobody's business.

6. Hang out outside.

Enjoy the fall weather while it lasts! Go apple or pumpkin picking, have a picnic in the park, read a book in the sun. Autumn is a beautiful time of year but you'll never get to see it when you're stuck in the Falvey Library

7. Share stories.

Fill your parents or siblings in on some of the funniest or most embarrassing moments you've had so far this year. They'll be sure to have a laugh, especially if you keep forgetting to text them like I do...

8. Study.

Don't go crazy, but take advantage of having only a few assignments to refresh your memory on topics you may have been struggling with. It will help with the transition back into classes when you have to come back next week.

9. Stay in contact with your roomies.

Talk about what you may need to bring back to school that you've been running out of and have been too lazy to replenish. Certain things are definitely a lot cheaper at home than on campus.

10. Visit your friends from home.

Whether you have friends that are still in high school or ones on campus close to your hometown, make a point to reach out! You may not miss them yet (although you probably do), but you will for sure be missing them later in the year. Make plans to go out to brunch or have a sleepover.

While it may be tempting to stay in bed and do absolutely nothing but watch Netflix, come the first day of classes you'll be longing for the time you wasted. So get out there and do something and don't forget to show it off on social media to make others envious!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
