Many people are excited to do nothing over winter break. They're excited to relax at home with a cup of hot cocoa. Me, on the other hand, I'm excited for everything else. Here are 10 things I'm excited for over winter break.
1. Working
Okay, so I only work about 18 hours a week. I make $10.55/hour and get paid every two weeks. I picked up hours over winter break, because rent is still a thing, and I'll be getting paid double time. Raking in the dough.
2. Seeing my mom
As a whole, since I've gone to college, I haven't gotten to spend much time with my mom. (This photo is from Halloween 2015!) So some time together is high up on the list of things I'm excited about.
3. Shopping
Most people hate Christmas shopping, or just shopping in general. I like shopping, but I'm a satirical shopper. I always find the most hideous/pointless things and put them in the cart of the person I'm shopping with to see how long it takes them.
4. Maybe a little bit of relaxing
My jobs aren't very hard physical labor wise since I'm a library worker most of the time, and a subbing lifeguard the other times (I'll be doing guarding during break). But some time to just take everything hour by hour and just listen to music with my fav coworkers doesn't sound bad.
5. Reading a book
Yes, even after an entire semester of reading mostly pointless crap in classes that don't relate to my major at all, I am excited to read a good book since I'll have the time.
6. Possibly traveling
My boyfriend and I have been throwing around the idea of traveling after Christmas and going to Florida (classic Snowbirds).
7. Catching up on the news.
I hear stuff here and there, and keep up on anything political, but I'm excited to actually be able to take the time and watch the news/read the newspaper without suddenly being behind in 7 of the 5 classes I'm taking.
8. Wrapping presents.
Personally, I hate buying gifts, because I'm a really bad gift giver. I equate my gift giving to that of my stepdad, jewelry/candle for woman, manly thing for man. BUT I'm a master present wrapper.
9. Watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. It is pretty much the only Christmas movie I can stand people.
10. Getting a chance to actually go to the gym
Yes, I know it only takes a half an hour of exercise a day to stay healthy. But, I do not have time. With taking both math and 2 science classes relating to my major, the good GPA has been taking priority.
