With winter break over and a new semester beginning, there’s a lot to do to get back into the groove of things: unpack your suitcase, buy your textbooks, get your notebooks, the list goes on and on. And with all these items on your to-do list, your stress levels might be going up, causing you to have pesky breakouts that make back-to-school quite unpleasant.
Well trust me, you're not alone.
A lot of people suffer from these breakouts, and, as a result, plenty of remedies have been tried and tested in hopes of resolving these imperfections. So, in case you're looking for a new way to clear up that skin of yours, here are 10 at-home solutions that many preach will help you manage your sudden and ever-so unwanted breakouts.
Full disclosure, I am no expert, and haven't tried all these items myself, but one of them may work for you, helping you feel in tip-top shape as the new semester begins.
1. Honey
Adding a dot of lemon juice on trouble spots can help reduce the size of the imperfection, helping it heal faster.3. Tomatoes
Whether you use them to make a mask, or slice and rub them on your problem spots as is, tomatoes can help dry out your blemishes, stopping them in their tracks.
4. Green Tea
Green tea works to reduce inflammation, and you don’t only have to use it topically – drinking a cup or two can be beneficial, as well.
5. Chamomile
Helping reduce redness and stress, chamomile is a great way to solve your acne troubles from the inside and on the outside.
6. Aloe
Yes, I’m talking about the stuff you put on a sunburn. Just like it can heal the sting of a burn, it can also heal the redness of a blemish – plus fight infection.
7. Apple cider vinegar
This bacteria fighter will help soak up the excess oil and grime on your face, leaving you with a smoother complexion.
8. Exfoliate with Sugar
The grainy texture of sugar makes it perfect for scrubbing off those dead skin layers, allowing for new, smooth ones to grow in their place. Look up DIY sugar scrubs online, and you’ll find tons of easy recipes.
9. Ice
Just like it helps ease bruises, ice can reduce the pain and redness that comes from a breakout, making any zit much more tolerable.
10. Toothpaste
You can use toothpaste as a spot treatment overnight to dry out your zit, but try to use as small a dot as you can, and you’ll be amazed at the results when you wake up in the morning.
