10 Basics For Women

Stock up, ladies.

10 Basics For Women
Chikuho

1) A good pair of shoes.

Having a good, neutral, and functional pair of shoes will cut down the cost of buying a million pairs of shoes you don't really care for. I prefer black flats, but to each their own.

2) Thick skin.

You will be torn at and beaten emotionally in this life. Women are seen as a sex that exists only to please men. We are here to get shit done and don't let anyone tell you you can't be the leader. Just because you were not born with a penis does not mean that you can't be in charge.

3) Black leggings.

I have 4 pairs that I rotate. All from thrift stores. You don't have to be rich to be comfortable and confident.

4) A sense of self importance.

No one else can give this to you. This is something you have to work on for a very long time, but it's a basic necessity. If you're going to get through life, you have to believe that you're important to someone in your life. Even if you're only a tiny bit a part of someone's life, you change it. Acknowledge that.

5) Your own educated opinions.

Don't rely on beliefs of others. Do your research with reliable news outlets and figure out what YOU believe.

6) Extra tampons.

We all have to look out for each other. You never know when your vagina will expel 50 gallons of blood and guts.

7) Something to protect yourself with.

You have to stay safe. Remember to keep your keys between your knuckles when you're walking to your car. If you have pepper spray, great. Keep it handy and keep cautious.

8) A good bag that suits your lifestyle.

Do you carry everything? Get a nice tote bag. Carry a wallet and your keys? Get a little cross-body bag. Walking everywhere? Get a cool backpack.

9) Matching bra and underwear.

It honestly just is a great feeling. Even if no one else is going to know that your undergarments match-it makes you feel so much more confident.

10) A knowledge that you are enough.

You are good enough, smart enough, beautiful enough, talented enough, driven enough. We all can improve, and we should all strive to improve, but you are not a failure and you are a badass.

Get out there and be the badass you are.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
