Sometimes the music that mom and dad showed you isn't half bad, it may actually end up being some of the best music you ever hear. If it was being listened to in the 60s and still hasn't lost it's buzz, it definitely deserves a listen. I can't count how many times I've been told, "you like the same music as my parents." Here are some bands you may already love if have an appreciation for classic rock or need to give a chance too!
1. Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is known by many as the best rock and roll band of all time. I don't know a soul who doesn't know Stairway to Heaven but Led Zeppelin is so much more than that! If your looking for a classic song to relax with you'll love Over the Hills and Far Away or Fool in the Rain. But if your looking to rock out maybe start with Kasmir or Black Dog.
2. The Beatles
Who doesn't love the Beatles? Not many people for sure. They defined an entire era. No band transcends the meaning of love and peace, like the Beatles do. Some of my personal favorites are All you need is love, Hey Jude, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Dear Prudence, and With A Little Help From My Friends. Also watch Across the Universe, you won't regret it!
3. Pink Floyd
I used to wake up to my Dark Side of The Moon tapestry every morning and it was a beautiful sight. I saw Roger Waters build The Wall and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had. If you don't listen to Pink Floyd you need too! Wish You Were Here is my all time favorite, but I don't even know where to start picking and choosing between the rest.
4. The Who
There's no sound that gets me hyped like the beginning of Baba O' Riley. If you ever find yourself in the mood to listen to a rock opera I highly recommend Tommy. It's hard to put words to the amount of talent displayed in The Who''s music.
5. The Rolling Stones
The logo of The Rolling Stones is going to be a symbol of rock n' roll for ages. If you only know Gimme Shelter because of Rock Band, you need to expand your horizons! You Can't Always Get What you Want is one of my favorites songs of all time, I also highly recommend Sympathy for the Devil and Beast Of Burden.
6. Rush
My heart melted when the movie "I Love You Man" paid tribute to Rush, because they are such an amazing band. While Paul Rudd and Jason Segel didn't play Tom Sawyer as well as Rush it was still hilarious! You must listen to Closer to the Heart and Limelight! When I was a little girl Alex Lifeson, the guitarist, gave me a guitar pick at a concert and I'll forever be grateful.
7. Billy Joel
He's listed amongst a bunch of classic rock legends, but Billy Joel is legendary himself. He's my favorite Piano Man to ever exist and I don't see anyone ever replacing him. I could listen to Vienna non stop all day, and I also love She's Always A Women, The Longest Time, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, and Uptown Girl.
8. David Bowie
The late David Bowie was an icon and magnificent artist. His music is so unique and touches your soul. Some of his best songs in my opinion were, Changes, Life On Mars, and Space Oddity.
9. Lynard Skynard
Lynyrd Skynyrd is the American Rock Band. EVERYONE knows Sweet Home Alabama. Most people know Free Bird which I think is a beautiful song. You also need to listen to Simple Man, Gimme Three Steps and What's Your Name.
10. Eric Clapton
He was a member of The Yardbirds and Cream. All of his music is amazing, it's no coincidence I want to name my first born Layla.
