1.Classes will probably get canceled

Maybe just your morning class got canceled, but one is better than none. In fact, you probably turned off your alarm last night.

2. So much excitement campus-wide

Students are buzzing with the thrill of no classes and an opportunity to make plans with friends. It’s posted on everyone’s Snapchat story and Instagram photos.

3.Students actually do things for the first half of the day

For the first half of the day, students are everywhere on campus and we all turn into big five-year-olds. Sledding, making snow angels, building snowmen, and having snowball fights.

4.The second half… that’s another story

After the initial excitement has passed, however, everyone retreats back to their dorm or to a friend’s room because it’s getting just a bit too cold to keep playing outside.

5.The market is sold out of everything

If you want something specific, chances are they’ve already sold out of it. Especially if it’s vanilla, because you know, you have to have that to make snow cream.

6.That being said, a good number of students will be making and enjoying fresh snow cream

Snow cream is basically a food group during the winter, right? And you don’t have to worry about a shortage of snow here at App, there’s plenty to go around.

7.You tell yourself you’ll get some homework done today

Intentions high, you have the whole day to get caught on homework you’ve probably already procrastinated too much.

8. But in all actuality, it turns into a “you day”

Yeah… you knew when the thought first popped into your head that you weren’t going to get a substantial amount of work done, especially when the day is a perfect opportunity to just enjoy life.

9. Dinner might be a challenge

If you don’t have food in your dorm, that means you might have to trek down to Central or Trivette. And the snow at night is not fun. You're essentially snowed in, so if the roads are clear enough, some students end up ordering take out simply to avoid going outside.

10. You have to take a moment to appreciate the beauty

Even if the snow and the wind freeze you down to your core, you can’t deny how beautiful your campus looks covered in a blanket of white. The mini snow tornado coming off the hills even look beautiful, and everyone has to take a picture of some part of campus to commemorate this beautiful experience.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
