Between papers, club meetings, and God knows what else, the typical day in the life of a college student is absolutely insane. Here are some of my favorite apps that help me stay on top of my life (for the most part):

1. Calendar

I recently started putting every important event and due date in my calendar app and it has made such a difference! You can set multiple reminders so you'll never forget to go to that big meeting or that you have a paper due next week.

2. Spotify

Fun fact: Spotify premium is only $5 a month for college students!! I listen to it while I'm studying, walking to class, working out, eating, etc. Even if you don't have premium, it's still a great app with fewer commercials than most other streaming services.

3. Uber or Lyft

Even if you don't go off campus often, knowing that you always have a way to get back to your dorm lets you enjoy the moment and not worry about catching a shuttle or subway.

4. Venmo or PayPal

Splitting Uber's and taking turns buying food can make paying people back confusing, especially when no one carries cash. Venmo is a great and quick way to pay (and charge) people for those movie tickets or insomnia cookies. PayPal is also great and you can use it on a lot of retail websites so your credit card information is more secure.

5. Mobile Banking

Most major banks have some sort of app that lets you track transactions and see how much money is in your account. I'm terrible at managing money, so being able to monitor my account 24/7 is super helpful.

6. Insomnia

Almost every major city and college town has an Insomnia Cookie. Sometimes you just really need a cookiewich at 2am, with the mobile app you can gets points towards different rewards, and ordering is quicker.

7. University App

Like most universities, Villanova has an app that lets you look at shuttle times, dining hall hours, washing machine availibility, maps, event calendars, etc. If your school has one, it's probably worth downloading.

8. SafeTrek

Even if you're campus is the safest place in the world, it's always good to have some sort of company when you're walking back to your dorm at 1am. When you start walking, you hold your finger on a button and if you take it off and don't enter your pin within a certain amount of time, SafeTrek alerts the local police. It's a great tool for piece of mind.

9. Find Friends

If you and your friends are going out it's nice to be able to know where everyone is. This is also helpful if you're staying on campus but a friend is going out, you can make sure they get back okay.

10. Mobile ID

If your school alows it, I HIGHLY recommend Mobile ID, It allows you to unlock your door from your phone, which is great if you forget your key or ID in the room. It has saved me a few times already.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
