Chipotle or Qdoba has been a long lasting debate at UW-Madison. The rivalry between the two Mexican style restaurants that occupy state street is the subject of many conversations across campus.
In the search of the perfect Qdoba now offering free queso and guacamole with every entrée enhaces the debate even more.
“Easy. Doba. Obviously I take into account the fact that they offer queso. You just can’t beat that stuff. It enhances everything. Also the fact that guacamole is free at Qdoba compared to Chipotle also puts Qdoba ahead for me. PSA: if you haven’t had the tortilla soup at Doba, you are missing out.” – Gary
“Everything is fresher at Chipotle: the meat quality, the seasoning, the lettuce. It all adds to a dimension that Qdoba doesn’t have. Also, the rice is 100% better at Chipotle.” –Mike
“One word: queso.” –Evan
“Qdoba’s variety is enticing. Getting free warm chips with the burrito bowl is the best deal in Mexican fast food.” –Daniel
“I will get Qboba when I’m drunk, but if I am looking for a good meal I will go to Chipotle. If Chipotle had queso we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.” –Zach
“Qdoba’s queso isn’t even that good. It is the least favorite queso that I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant. I’d compare it to the stuff that comes out of the can. Chipotle just seems higher ” –Jeremy
“I eat at Qdoba because I like their burritos and think the steak is too chewy at Chipotle. Since I like doba’s chicken better, I go there. It certainly doesn’t hurt that they now offer quac, queso and fajita peppers included in the base price.” –Lewis
All in all, everyone has their own separate taste on where they like to get their burritos. Although some people refuse to go to the competitor, most people will venture to either if the opportunity arises. Qdoba is open until at least 2:00 am every night and most college students would be willing to sacrifice the quality of Chipotle for the availability of Qdoba.
