Late Sunday, July 26, Planned Parenthood's website came under attack from anti-abortion hackers with the goal of taking down the organization. The website and social media attack failed, however, private information on staff members from around the country were released.

The hacker responsible for this goes by the pseudonym "E" and revealed to the Daily Dot that this attack was politically motivated.

“Trying to mold an atrocious monstrosity into socially acceptable behaviors is repulsive. Obviously what [Planned Parenthood] does is a very ominous practice. It'll be interesting to see what surfaces when [Planned Parenthood] is stripped naked and exposed to the public.”

In response, Planned Parenthood has done everything they can to recover from this attack. Monday morning, right after the attack was discovered, the organization reached out to the FBI and the Department of Justice to investigate the issue effectively. Following the attack Dawn Laguens, the executive vice president of the organization released this statement,

“Today Planned Parenthood has notified the Department of Justice and separately the FBI that extremists who oppose Planned Parenthood’s mission and services have launched an attack on our information systems and have called on the world’s most sophisticated hackers to assist them in breaching our systems and threatening the privacy and safety of our staff members. We are working with top leaders in this field to manage these attacks. We treat matters of safety and security with the utmost importance, and are taking every measure possible to mitigate these criminal efforts to undermine our mission and services."

So far there have been no major discoveries in the ongoing investigation except for one grave detail: the attacks are not over yet. "E" reported that private emails have been taken from the servers and are being decrypted to be released to the masses "soon".

This cyber hack is one of many recent scandals regarding Planned Parenthood. Earlier this month, Planned Parenthood was accused of selling fetal remains for profit to medical teams and testing labs.

The scandalous video that started this rumor shows Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Director of Medical Services, revealing what happens to the fetal remains after abortions. This video was nothing more than an exaggeration of legal and ethical practices in the medical industry.

The Center for Medical Progress is responsible for the video and pulled every statement out of context to play on the misconceptions of Planned Parenthood in the medical world. To clear things up Eric Ferrero, Vice President of Communications endeavored to educate the masses on how many companies give medical research teams the remains of medial tissue to perform research, seek out treatments, and advance medical breakthroughs.

"Women at Planned Parenthood who have abortions are no different. At several of our health centers, we help patients who want to donate tissue for scientific research, and we do this just like every other high-quality health care provider does — with full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards. There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood. In some instances, actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue to leading research centers, are reimbursed, which is standard across the medical field."

With the video leak, and now the cyberattack, Planned Parenthood is on thin ice. Republican Senator Rand Paul is setting out a mission to defund Planned Parenthood in light of recent events.

The organization's mission to provide access to women's health care relies on privacy and safety; two things that are now at risk. Women's rights are under attack. We can only hope that Planned Parenthood will be able to recover from the attacks and, in turn, be able to stay on their mission and protect women's rights while providing access to health care to women in need.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
