15 Pieces of Advice For Freshman (Definitely Not Fake)

Entering college can be a scary experience.

Incoming freshmen often don’t know what they're in for.  During your freshman year, you will make life-long friends, enjoy new experiences, and grow as a person.  But, how do you do go about making unforgettable memories?

It is difficult to ensure a flawless freshman year since being a freshman comes with a bit of awkwardness.  I'm guessing you've had the same core group of friends since middle school.  It is often hard for some to start their social lives over from scratch.

But don’t worry.  If you abide by these 15 tips, you will have an amazing freshman year.

1.    If you’re pre-med, make sure to tell everyone and describe your course load in detail.  People will enjoy hearing about how your classes are soo much more difficult than their own!

2.    Always wear the free T-shirt you were given at orientation.  Other freshman friends will flock to you and you’ll instantly gain new friends.

3.    Post in your school’s “Class of 2018” page constantly.  You’ll be known as the ‘cool kid’ around campus.

4.    College girls are easy.  Start up a conversation by asking, “Wanna hookup?”  Everyone will know you spit mad game and you’ll definitely get laid.

5.    Wear other college sweatshirts around campus (especially Ivy ones).  It’ll show the other kids you’re smarter than them.  They’ll respect you for your intelligence and courage in applying to such an elite university.

6.    Make sure to record a 300+ Snapchat story of your night out.  If you don’t have proof of you drinking, were you even drunk?

7.    When a professor asks, “Any final questions?” be sure to ask a thought provoking one during last minutes of class.  The entire class will thank you for inspiring them.  College is all about learning, right?

 8.    Sit in a different seat every class.  It’s good to mix things up and meet new people.

9.     Don’t forget to use your campus map the first week of school! There’s nothing more embarrassing than getting lost on your way to class.

10.   Make sure your first college hookup is hideous.  I’m talking multiple facial moles, a hunchback and cystic acne.  That way you can only go up!

11.   Guys, when going to parties don’t worry about bringing girls.  The ratio rule is a myth.  Frat guys will let you in no matter what.  Who needs girls when you have potential new brothers?

12.  A good topic of conversation is your high school GPA.  (Also, don’t forget to bring up how high your SAT scores were.)

13.  Don’t worry about drinking the punch.  You’re here to have a good time, right?

14.  Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Wrong.  Tequila is.  Make sure to drink so much tequila that your clothes fall of.  Everyone at the party will admire your self-confidence.

15.  Never miss a football game!  Tailgates will ruin any chance you have to remember all of the awesome tackles.  Avoid them at all costs!

Your freshman year of college will be one of the best years of your life.  But, you don’t want to have a lackluster college experience because you were unprepared.  Follow this advice and you will thrive in any social situation.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
