All you need to pack with you on the plane while traveling or studying abroad this summer.
Even if you’re packing last minute or have been planning your trip down to the last detail from the moment you booked your tickets, this information should be helpful and save you a little of your precious time.
1. A jacket. This will save your life and your body from the chilling temperature that they standardize throughout the aircraft. Another plus to carrying on a jacket is that if the plane doesn’t provide pillows you can make your own! Pro tip: If you bring one with pockets, you can fill those pockets with things like candy... lots of candy.
2. Medications, if you take any. Everyone thinks it can’t happen to them, but checked luggage can get lost. One thing you can’t wait for is medication, so make sure to carry it with you and avoid the worst. Pro tip: Remember to fill your prescriptions before you leave and don’t overdose.
3. Phone charger. In the technological day and age we live in today, your phone is a tool of the travel trade. You better be sure to have a charger to keep that phone alive as a life-line. Pro tip: Packing a phone with your phone charger is advisable.
4. Map of the area around your destination. Who likes getting lost? No one, that’s who. So, pack a map and maybe you can brush up on some direction while stuck on the plane. Pro tip: Maps can be bright and colorful, focus on that if you are really desperate to stay entertained.
5. A good book. If you’re reading this article you probably somewhat enjoy reading and might even like reading books. Crazy, I know. Books can inspire your own story and adventure you are about to partake in once you’re off the plane…or on it if you’re lucky. Pro tip: Aircrafts come with your own personal reading light, so use it!
6. An eye mask. If you’re still alive, you have most likely slept for a large amount of your life. An eye mask can aid in a universal lifetime hobby of sleeping! Pro tip: if you really don’t want to be bothered by anyone, an eye mask will deter unwanted interactions on a plane.
7. A spare change of clothes. If you have a checked bag under the plane with your entire wardrobe, it’s good to have a back up change of clothes in your carry-on just in case of lost luggage. Pro tip: you never know if the person sitting next to you on a plane will eject all of their stomach matter onto you due to motion sickness, with a spare change of clothes you can and will be saved.
8. Glasses. Reading glasses if you enjoy reading the classic Air Mall magazine. Sun glasses if you think the sun is the enemy. Regular glasses if you are practically blind. Pro tip: Glasses can cover up the physical pains of travel, like brutal bags under your eyes induced by the crying infant two seats over.
9. IPod. This is a savior from the unwanted sounds of the aircraft and its inhabitants. Plus, you can listen to tunes the whole way as a soundtrack to trip. Pro tip: the louder you listen to your IPod, the less you can hear of everything and everyone else!
10. Earplugs. Carry these with you so that you have a decent chance of sleep. When you are looking to tune out literally everything, ear plugs can and will save your life. Pro tip: Screaming, crying, and the odd individual trying to talk to you will all be eliminated, well eliminated in terms of sound, but that’s better than nothing!
Be smart and care about what you’re carrying on board your next flight.
