Nancy June Inman is a sophomore from Springfield, Tenn., who majors in mathematics and intends to be a math teacher. Not only is Nancy June involved as a leader in her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, but she is also very involved in other on-campus organizations.

Nancy June is a dedicated member of Zeta Tau Alpha and acts on the Executive Council, with the responsibility of educating the new members, planning bid day, and helping to promote an environment that fosters sisterhood among the women of the chapter. In the past, she has served as ZTA’s Junior Panhellenic Representative, the Fraternity/Sorority Relations Chair, and as Bid Day Assistant. She also lives in the sorority house, which contributes to her full-time commitment to her role as an executive member. 

Nancy June’s impact in ZTA is one of positive energy and exemplary leadership. The President of ZTA, Marisa Sutherland, explained, “I look up to Nancy June in so many ways. She is the epitome of what every woman should strive to be like. She is kind, outgoing…and makes my job as president so much easier.”

In addition to holding a leadership role in her sorority, Nancy June is also involved UT’s National Society of Leadership and VolsTeach. She sings in the UT Women’s Chorale, she is involved in The Walk, and she participates in UT Intramurals.

Nancy June was also recently selected from a competitive applicant pool to be a member of All Campus Events. TrentBibee, a current ACE member, said of her involvement, “Nancy June has done really well being on ACE, and she especially did well when helping with Carnicus. It is a huge accomplishment for her to have been selected out of a couple hundred people.”

Nancy June explained that her experience on ACE, thus far, has taught her, “to always be on time, because being on time dominoes the starting of events, to always be honest and ask for what you need, to be committed and reliable, and to be positive, no matter how tired and busy you may feel.” She also emphasized that her participation on campus in each organization that she has been a part of has taught her wonderful professional skills that will undoubtedly prepare her for working as a teacher.

Nancy June advises those who are questioning getting involved around campus to, “Do it! You make so many friends, see new perspectives, have doors opened for you, get scholarship and job opportunities, leadership experience, which is helpful in the real world, and it always looks great on resumes.”
