The Top Ten Underrated Places on Syracuse Campus

Syracuse University has one of the most beautiful campuses in America, and with all of us returning to our favorite stomping grounds in just one short month, why don't we kick the year off with a bit of exploring?

Now, I've only had one year to explore so far, so I'm bound to have missed a few spots. However, in the end I want YOU to comment and let me know your favorite underrated place on campus!

Without further ado, here are my top ten favorite underrated places on the Syracuse University campus:

10. Freshens at Food.Com

While I think that food.com as a whole is actually a bit over-rated (always crowded, uncomfortable seats, etc.), I will shamelessly take numerous detours out of my routine for a Freshens peanut butter and chocolate smoothie. The Mangosteen smoothie is a perfect pick-me-up too.

9. The 21st Floor of Lawrinson

This lookout-turned-lounge overlooks the dome and the city of Syracuse, making both look breathtaking. Definitely a must-see. Protip: It's only open at night.

8. The Saffire Room

Located on the sixth floor of Bird Library, this quiet and cozy study will turn even the most distracted procrastinator into a champion scholar.

7. The Piano Room in BBB

Sure, that basement is pretty sketchy, but how many of you knew there was a piano down there? Thats what I thought. Ask for the music room key at the front desk, and it's the door right next to the laundry room.

6. The Cafe at Maxwell

Hands down the best sandwiches (and one of the best views) on campus. Seems to be a favorite of professors, music and Maxwell students alike, but will soon be your favorite too.

5. The Starbucks at Campus West

IT TAKES SUPERCARD.

4. The Grocery Store at Campus West

IT TAKES SUPERCARD. Again, 'nuff said.

3. Behind the curvy stone wall in front of Crouse

This is the perfect shady spot to sit, read a book, drink a coffee, or just relax. Bring a blanket to lay out on the grass and enjoy the fall weather.

2. Oak Wood Cemetery

Okay, so it's not technically part of campus. But it's on the National Registry of Historic Places, is gorgeous in the fall, and a great find for runners/walkers.

1. People's Place

Centrally located, student run, cheap prices, and great coffee. Need I say more?

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
