Top Trends This Summer Season

Every fall, people rush to the mall to pick out new fads and trends that have been building up all summer in order to rock them for the new school year.  Whether it is thigh high socks, studs, dark purple lipstick or metallic nail polish, we absorb all of the new fashion advice out there just so that we can be stylish this season, and this summer isn’t any different.

What are the new things that are trending? Don’t worry, I’m here to help clear up some of the staple items for this season, starting off with everyone’s favorite fruit: pineapple.

Pineapples. Whether it's a print on a pant leg, a pineapple shaped pair of sunnies, or even a pineapple shaped handbag, there is no denying that pineapples are an up and coming trend this year. I myself am craving a pineapple one-piece swimsuit, but it looks like I’m going to have to keep searching for that delicious item. Shops like Tobi and Top Shop should be full of the prickly print, so keep your eyes peeled!

French bulldog. This is a creature as opposed to an actual item, but there is no denying that this breed of dog is skyrocketing on the market, for celebs and other stars in the public eye. Not that anyone could blame them; they look like plump shorthaired babies! Lady Gaga even refers to her little Bully as a bat pig because of her large ears and lovable snorts, which are not unusual for the breed!

Half up, half down topknot bun. If you have a Pinterest, I’m sure you’ve seen this all over people’s fashion boards. A messy bun perched atop one’s head, but still with hair flowing by their shoulders.  This is the best development that could ever have taken place, especially for people like me with unruly locks. Match this cute and casual hairstyle with the next item on my list, and I’m sure you’ll get good reviews.

Cute, rounded sunnies.  Everyone loves sunglasses -- at least, I think everyone loves sunglasses. This season, the John Lennon is back in full force. Of course, his basic shape has been altered somewhat. There has been the classic wayfarer frame with a metallic hint to it, and the tortoiseshell look to compliment  highlights. Either way you spin it, cute circle sunnies are trending hard this season, so whether you buy the expensive pair from somewhere online, or a cheap pair from the rack at Urban, feel confident in your new round lenses!

Birkenstocks. This is a day that I almost never saw coming. Despite my judgment, the birks are in! These sandals have been around forever and were mostly known for their comfort but, lately, people are rocking them left and right, and they’re even on my must have list. Thus far, my favorite is the Arizona cut, although Birkenstock has been producing many other variations of their sandal that are totally worth checking out! As for the price, scour Amazon and eBay before you blow $100, or check out the American Eagle website for a chance to save your wallet from depletion.

There you have it, folks! The top five up and coming styles, this season, that will make many appearances on campuses far and wide, once school starts again. Get in there, quick, before prices start skyrocketing because fashion isn’t half as fun when it eats through your paycheck!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
