The stresses and joys of searching for your perfect little. The reveal is creeping closer every week.
As the first new members of my sorority came running to our lawn this bid day, many thoughts flooded my mind, but mainly, “wow, I’m getting old.” Has an entire year come and gone already? My freshman status has disappeared, and so has my excuse for getting lost on campus.
Although I’m sad my first year of college passed so quickly, I’m also overwhelmed with excitement at the thought that I will soon get to share everything I have learned with my sorority little. I still remember what it was like last year as I searched for the girl I wanted to call my big, and now that I am on the other side of the process, I can’t wait until big/little reveal.
In the months leading up to that much anticipated day, many tasks need to be completed before I can officially call a girl my little. The first item on the list is the countless number of crafts that will be given to my little on the night of reveal. Most people don’t realize how much time it takes to actually draw out, paint, and perfect each canvas craft. Pinterest became my best friend this summer, helping me to decide which quotes and sayings I wanted to incorporate into my own designs. Most of my DIYs were finished before summer came to an end, but I have a feeling that yet another idea will ignite my creative side, and I will probably whip out another craft before the big night.
Besides crafting, it is important to get to know the new pledge class. How many frozen yogurt dates can one sorority girl go on in a time span of 2 months? I’m not sure, but I’m about to find out. When trying to figure out which girl you want to be your little, it is essential to meet as many girls in the 2014 pledge class as you can, and yes, that probably involves taking them to get froyo. With around 90 girls in the new PC, it is difficult to get to know all of the girls on a personal level in such a short amount of time, but it’s important to meet as many new girls as you can so you can figure out who you bond with the most.
Knowing that I will soon be somebody’s big is such an amazing feeling because I can’t wait to share all of my sorority’s traditions with her, and help her in her transition to college life. Going to football games, shopping on campus corner, and dining at local restaurants are just a few of the events I am looking forward to sharing with my soon-to-be little. To all of the sophomore sorority girls reading this: good luck in the search for the perfect little, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
