Top Five Must Haves For Date Parties

Most fraternities have at least one themed date party that they hold every single year. Considering they hold it every year, it usually has the exact same theme. These date parties are generally their biggest ones, so once you buy an outfit for that one date party, you are good to go for a few years. You are almost guaranteed to wear that exact same outfit at least three more times.

First, you need jersey. When is a boy’s bid day party not jersey themed? If you have a jersey, black shorts and a pair of Converse you are basically set for half of the fraternity date parties. If I could give advice to anyone who does not know anything about date parties, it is smart to invest in a cute jersey because you will get more wear out of that than anything else you own. But, please, do not be that basic girl who buys a Michael Jordan jersey just so she can quote, “waitress asked how many bottles, I said 23,” on all of her Instagram posts.

Next, an American Apparel figure skater dress. The bubble gum pink and cobalt blue are the cutest, but I say go for a black one! Their black dress will fit any theme. All you have to do is throw some tulle on your head and paint some dots on your face, according to the theme, and you are set.

Third, obviously, is tulle. Buy tulle in every single color available, because if you don’t make tulle headbands for every event, are you even in a sorority?

Fourth, and my personal favorite, is one of those Hawaiian shirts. Hawaiian themed date parties are one of the easiest and most fun to dress up for. You can go way out, or just dress up casual. Obviously, you should have a buttoned up Hawaiian shirt, but get the most obnoxious one you can find, and at least two or three leis. If you want to go all out, buy a hula skirt and some flowers for your hair. But you should probably leave the coconut bra at home.

Lastly, buy something red, white and blue. I don’t know why everyone is freaking out over the American theme, now, but being patriotic seems to be super popular. If you don’t have a red or blue American Apparel dress, just buy a red or blue tank and wear high-waisted shorts. Throw on an American flag headband and, of course, your Converse.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
