An Open Letter To My Future Little

To My Future Little:

Maybe right now you're sitting in a high school classroom, counting the ceiling tiles above you just like you count the days before graduation. Or maybe you graduated last year but you didn't go through Recruitment because you didn't think Greek life was for you, but when you got to campus you changed your mind. Maybe you played volleyball in high school, or maybe like me you prefered art. Maybe you love Taylor Swift, or prefer Blink 182, or maybe you like them both. Maybe I'll meet you through Recruitment, or maybe you'll be a COR girl. No matter what, I want you to know I love you with all my heart, and I have a couple of promises for you.

I promise to craft for you until my fingers bleed and I've finished every series on Netflix, just to make sure you have the best decorated room in your entire dorm.

I promise not to judge you, and to do my best to give you advice for every situation you get into, even if I have no experience with that situation.

I promise to proofread every paper you write, and find someone to help you with subjects neither one of us is good at.

I promise to scream your name every time I see you, and run up to hug you. Unless you don't like hugs, in which case, we'll work something out.

I promise to do everything in my power to bring you happiness, because seeing you smile will be my favorite thing.

I promise to comment emoji hearts and mention how proud I am on every Instagram or Facebook picture you post.

I promise to bring you your favorite foods whenever you've had a bad day, or you feel homesick.

I promise to be your [big]gest supporter and brag about everything you do to anyone who will listen.

I promise to always have my phone on and apartment open if you have a problem, or if you just want to see me.

I promise to be your mother, big sister, and best friend.

I promise to always remind you just how much I love and care about you.

Love,

Your Future Big

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
