My Top Five TV Shows For The Summer

4

When the summer sun gets a little too hot, spend some time inside unwinding or binge watching the best Netflix has to offer.

I am seriously addicted to stress, but between two jobs, online classes, internships, and everything in between, I like to set aside some time for myself to watch an episode or two on Netflix. To most, 43 minutes might not seem like much, but it’s the perfect amount of time I need to relax and wind down after a crazy day. So without further ado, here are the five TV shows that I have been loving this summer.

1. Gossip Girl. This is my absolute favorite show of all time. I don’t think any other show will ever surpass it. I watched it as it first aired, but have re-watched the entire series multiple times. It highlights the stereotypical Upper East Side lifestyle of New York City and has unique drama-filled characters.

2. One Tree Hill. This is like the suburban version of Gossip Girl. It’s a little more realistic because it takes place in a small suburban town, with more relatable problems, plus there are a lot of plot twists so it keeps me interested.

3. Revenge. My mom and little sister begged me to try this show after they fell in love with it last summer. I blew it off because, for whatever reason, it didn’t really appeal to me. A few weeks ago I finally caved and now I am obsessed. It’s a mystery-type show about a girl who moves into the Hamptons with a new identity trying to prove her dad’s innocence. It’s a little on the complex side, so you have to make sure you’re paying attention the whole time.

4. Once Upon a Time. I have heard so many people rave about this show ever since it was put on Netflix, but I didn’t understand the hype until I watched it. Now, I completely agree! It takes place in a world that intertwines characters we grew up hearing about in our childhood fairy tales. It is such an imaginative concept.

5. So You Think You Can Dance. This isn’t on Netflix, but I couldn’t leave it out. Whether you grew up dancing, like me, or not, this show is extremely entertaining. It is a dancing competition that eventually narrows down to the best 20 dancers in various styles such as ballroom, hip-hop, tap, jazz, and contemporary. Each week they eliminate dancers according to both the judges’ and the audience's votes. They are currently on the 11th season, and I’ve obsessively watched the show for six years. I wish I had started watching sooner.

I hope this gives you a few ideas of what to watch while you’re sitting around wondering what you could possibly watch next, even if you think you’ve watched everything that television has to offer.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
