From Tumblr to BuzzFeed, all the sites you need to stay distracted from getting things done during the long summer days.
It’s three o’clock and you’re bored at work, your internship or even at home. That cheesy infomercial voice in your head says, "Well, do I have the solution for you!"
I pride myself on being able to entertain myself on the Internet for hours on end. If you are bored out of your mind and need something to do, I recommend checking out these websites. Keep in mind the risk --you might wind up devoting several hours to these distracting sites.
1. Tumblr. This is where nerds, photographers, movie and TV aficionados and entertainment fiends gather. I have a personal tumblr account that I will admit to spending several hours checking each day. If you are looking for gifs of cats playing the piano and in-depth analysis of your favorite Game Of Thrones episode, you’ve landed in the right place.
2. Stumbleupon. A distraction goldmine, Stumbleupon is a website generator that selects websites you would enjoy, based on your selected interests. For example, on my Stumbleupon account, I chose animals as an interests. When I hit the “stumble” button, I am greeted with stories of animal rescues and my heart is instantly happier. Or, you could choose which interests you would like to browse and spend hours looking at choice photography. Either way, I highly recommend making Stumbleupon one of your more frequented sites; you’re bound to stumble onto something you’ll enjoy.
3. TFLM (Texts From Last Night). Oh, the joy of drunken idiots submitting their odd texts from their night. This site really is a goldmine. TFLM displays texts that people send in the wee hours of the night, all anonymous, except for the area code it was submitted from. The best part of this website? You can search by area code and see what kind of hijinks your fellow Normanites are up to.
4. BuzzFeed. I’m sure almost everyone knows what BuzzFeed is and how often you can spend hours looking at it. It is one of the classics and deserves recognition. If you haven’t visited BuzzFeed you’re missing out, my friend.
I hope your afternoon has improved by visiting these websites. Happy distraction! friends!
