Fall Into Autumn

Fall Into Autumn

For some reason, the minute the temperature drops and the winds begin to speed up, people act like this is the first time they have ever experienced such a phenomenon. I am no exception. Perhaps it is the change in temperature, or what comes with the season, but fall is a time of happiness and bliss, and it brings a smile to all of our lips.

Red, yellow and orange fill your view as the beautifully colored leaves fall from the huge trees that line the sidewalk and streets. The walk to class is one to look forward, because everywhere you turn is a picturesque sight reminding you how wonderful Mother Nature can be. OU’s campus is already gorgeous, but throw in the sun reflecting off of the radiant leaves and it is postcard worthy.

Not only does fall make the surroundings look different, but there is also a special feeling in the air that comes with the changing of the season. A sense of hope is inevitable this time of year, as people anticipate budding relationships and Thanksgiving break. Fall allows you to turn over a new leaf and start fresh, so now would be the perfect time to try something new, or take up a new hobby.

Sweaters, scarves, leggings and riding boots seem to be the uniform of every girl on campus, and guys break out their Patagonia jackets and sweat pants to face the crisp air during the walk to class. Fall clothing is definitely my favorite of all the seasons because it is easy to be comfy and stylish. To dress up an everyday outfit, add a deep colored lipstick for girls, or throw on a nice sweater with jeans for guys. Remember, no outfit is complete without a cup of coffee in your hand.

Pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin scented candles, pumpkin patches -- everything has something to do with pumpkins this time of year. The iconic symbol of fall is a pumpkin, although I am not sure why. I understand that pumpkins are meant to be carved for Halloween, but why is everything also pumpkin flavored, or scented? Not sure, but no objections.

If you are anything like me, you are going to embrace every minute of fall. Sit around a bonfire, drink apple cider, jump in a pile of leaves, or enjoy any other type of cool weather activity.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
