Plenty To Do In Norman Besides Rage

Breaking Up The Weekend Routine

Before coming to college, prowling around the frat houses every weekend probably sounded very appealing. However, after realizing that weekend after weekend of living the stereotypical college life can get boring, OU students usually opt to find a variety of weekend activities to break the monotony.

Two-stepping. Sooner Corral is the closest location where you can embrace your country side and two-step. Two-stepping’s mass appeal lies in the fact that it is incredibly simple and easy to learn. Even if you can’t bring a dance partner, there are plenty of men and women who show up alone in order to dance and meet new people. If you are not cool with letting a stranger sweep you off your feet, you can always fly solo and learn a few line dances. You can catch on to the line dances quickly, if you watch everyone else and then hop in and try it. Dancing may not be your thing, in which case  you can attempt to ride the mechanical bull. Even if you fall off in two seconds, it makes a great SnapChat story.

Wichita mountains. Journeying out to the Wichita mountains is a great way to channel your granola side. Whether you are an experienced climber looking to scale difficult peaks, or a beginner who just wants to get some nature Instagram pictures, the Wichita mountains are for everyone. You may even be able to spot a frolicking bison in the distance, because the Wichita mountains are a refuge for the endangered species. Best of all, hiking around all of that rocky terrain is probably worth at least a week of going to the gym.

Pops. The drive to Arcadia is worth doing at least once to enjoy the Pops experience. Hundreds of unique sodas line the walls and shelves of the small restaurant, with flavors ranging from bacon to ice mint blizzard. After selecting your soda, you can sit down, peruse the diner-style menu and have a meal. Don’t forget to take a dozen pictures in front of the giant, light-up soda bottle beside the restaurant.

Elevation. Edmond’s trampoline park allows you to fulfill your childhood dream of jumping on giant trampolines for hours on end. If the regular trampolines are too tame for you, enter the dodgeball and basketball section and release any pent up anger you have by battling armies of little kids in dodgeball. They also have a foam pit area where you can unleash your inner gymnast by flipping and diving into a sea of foam cubes.

Bricktown. Nestled in downtown OKC, Bricktown offers a slew of trendy shops and restaurants for a group evening out. You could kickstart your evening by strolling through the Myriad Botanical Gardens to watch the sunset. Satisfy your appetite by dining at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grille or by having a meal and bowling at Red Pin. Follow that up with drinks and painting at Pinot’s Palette, and finish off the evening with a trip to PinkItzel Cupcakes and Candy to enjoy some sweets. The best part is that everything is within a reasonable walking distance.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
