Your current Greek Of The Week is a Tulsa native. She is majoring in strategic communications with a minor in Spanish and is a senior this year. Lindsey Willis is a proud member of the Oklahoma State chapter of Pi Beta Phi. In 2013, she served as her chapter’s Vice President of Fraternity Development. She was in charge of all things tradition. She handled things such as initiation and Pi Phi’s Founder’s Day celebration. She currently serves as the New Member Coordinator for her chapter and has been in charge of leading 59 freshmen through the new member program.
“This has been the best way to end my senior year, serving in Pi Phi," Willis said. Aside from holding positions within her chapter, she was also a Gamma Chi during her junior year, which she claims to be one of the most fun experiences she has had being in the Greek system.
Willis is also very involved outside of the Oklahoma State Greek community. She has been a part of The Big Event since her freshman year, and served as the executive director her junior year, when The Big Event experienced the largest turnout of students OSU has ever had, with more than 1,500 volunteers.
“It was amazing to see the impact we can make around us and how grateful the community of Stillwater was for dedicating time to help them in any way we could.” Willis said.
She currently serves as the SGA Public Relations Executive and assists in managing SGA’s press releases, social media and website. This semester, Willis has been interning with a social venture called Life Out Of The Box, an organization that works with local artisans to develop and sell bracelets; for each one sold, a child in need is given school supplies. Each bracelet has a unique number that shows you what child you gave to. “It has been so exciting to help them in a small way as they make a difference around the world,” Willis said.
This past summer Willis held an internship in New York City at a media agency. She lived in Manhattan with one of her Pi Phi sisters for three months and worked on a campaign for a national client. “I got to meet some pretty cool people from all over the country and experience the greatest city in the world,” she said.
If you ever need to find Willis, you can almost guarantee that she is at Starbucks. “I cannot function without coffee and have at least three cups a day,” Willis said. She is a huge Mindy Kaling fan and loves to design, create and doodle. She is obsessed with anything pink and turns everything into an abbreviation or an acronym. There is really only one thing Willis does not like, and that is ranch dressing.
Willis is a one of a kind Cowboy. She has a genuine passion for helping the people around her, whether that be her Pi Phi sisters, another Oklahoma State student, or a child she doesn’t even know. Willis is someone we could all stand to be a little more like.
