Five Reasons I Love NC State

Five Reasons I Love NC State

Before I even came to NC State, I knew that being part of the Wolfpack would be special. I fell in love with the urban/modern campus feel, the diverse group of students, and the plethora of opportunities available to me.

I mean, even our Red & White Song had character. In the song, we blatantly throw shade on both Chapel Hill and Duke and claim to be the best. I think that's pretty close to the truth due to the following reasons and experiences I had. So thank you NC State for...

1. Our tailgates..

Good music, southern food, spirits, and lifelong friends. That's all you really need right?

2. The excitement of our basketball season.

I'm definitely not a basketball guru, but we had some pretty spectacular wins.

Such as, beating one of our in state competitors Duke and storming the court, and of course our victory against Chapel Hill on their turf.

...then getting a little too rowdy with a jersey at the Belltower.

So rowdy that the firefighters had to come after a couch was ablaze.

Last but not least, the 71-68 Villanova upset by our very own NC State, and the legendary picture that came with it. The picture made national headlines, but it's even cooler to say that we're the school that caused it.

3. Scotty McCreary

Whether you are a country music fan or not, you have to admit it is pretty cool that a famous country star attends our university. I've never come across Scotty, but if I did, I'd most definitely take a selfie.

4. The unity of our campus.

On February 11th, 2015 we lost three of our own, Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and his sister Razan Abu-Salha. Deah And Yusor both had graduated from NC State, while Razan was studying architecture at the College of Design. When these three heroes were killed, I attended the vigil and saw that our campus united to celebrate the three precious lives of these young, amazing students. I will never forget their stories and the passion they had for life.

5. And for the friends we will never forget.

No matter what you're in to and no matter what you join, you will always be able to make friends with someone on this beautifully social campus. This campus has brought me closer to some extremely genuine people that I am so fortunate to know and have become friends with.

So thank you N.C. State for the best year ever, and I cannot wait to come back next year to this wonderful place I call home. Go pack!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
