1. Does anyone know how to work Adobe Elements/Premiere/Audacity/FinalCut Pro? Maybe I should have taken a video editing class in high school instead of running mail for the front office. Now, I'm spending an hour Googling how to do a cross-fade on FCP.      

2. Why do I even have to take statistics? Just when I thought I escaped math for good…         

3. Wait, my shift at KOMU starts how early? Someone has to work the 2:30 to 7 a.m. assistant production shift for the morning show. After all, it gives us a taste of what the real world of broadcast journalism will be like.      

4. AP Style Handbook = pain. Remember: September is Sept., don’t use the incorrect forms for titles, and the post office’s names for states are not correct. 

5. Maybe I’ll switch to Strategic Communications. Public Relations. Media Planning. Copyediting. At least I won’t have to be on camera.      

6. Wow, my voice sounds gross on tape. Why didn’t anyone tell me I sounded like this?     

7. I’ve gotten four hours of sleep each night this week.  Coffee and Red Bull are my new friends. Facebook and Twitter are not.    

8. Neff Hall is too far away. Especially when it’s cold out. With wind chill, it's just 12 degrees? Maybe I can bribe my roommate to drive me.      

9. My friends need to stop posting pictures of them going out on the weekends when I'm doing journalism homework. The FOMO from journalism is real. 

10. Mom, look, I anchored a Today show cut-in! It’s nerve-wracking and exciting, the first step into a potential career path. Mom loves to brag about it, too.      

11. And to think, I thought I had a thick skin in high school. I thought I could handle criticism from varsity volleyball and AP American History. But then I took my first broadcasting class... lesson quickly learned.

12. T minus three minutes till my Nikon DSLR camera is due back to the equipment laboratory. RUN. Running across Francis Quadrangle to reach the journalism school while checking for time updates on my phone is a common practice.    

13. I’m studying abroad in London. Or Costa Rica. Or China. Or Buenos Aires. First step, make my parents agree to it. Second, figure out how to get cellphone service overseas.  

14. This beats taking Calculus. I’d take staying up late, editing an audio slideshow over doing derivatives. If there’s anything I like worse than the AP Style Handbook, it’s equations.      

15. Why won’t my source call me back? Did I say something wrong in my voicemail? Is it borderline annoying to call back again?  Should I have tried to send an email instead? Maybe my TA will give me extension out of pity for having to completely start over. Fingers crossed.     

16. Hey, I’m not so bad at this after all.  My TA liked my project? And I somehow passed J2100?  

17. I’m stressed, behind in homework, and I called my parents crying once this week. But there’s no journalism school that prepares you for the real world of news and media like Mizzou, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
